Anyone with strong opinions on this issue should (I encourage you) join
the UX mailing list and start a thread there. The people over there are
all amazing and open to suggestions.

And to add my 2 pence worth. Lyx, another WP that I use,
adds an asterisk * to the heading, if there has been any
unsaved change to the workfile. Easy to see at all times.

*The save tool could not be dimmed *

I updated my LibreOffice for Windows, and I am using 5.1.2.2. Several
days
ago, I noticed that the SAVE tool could not be dimmed even when I saved
something.

I attempted to go to

*Tools | Options | LibreOffice | General | Document Status |*

* | Allow to save document even when the document is not modified|*

*I did not find *

*| Allow to save document even when the document is not modified|*

I unchecked it, but I found that nothing changed.

How can I dim the SAVE tool when I save something?

I strongly disagreed with this decision but it was made by UX and was on
purpose. I agree, the dimmed state was much easier to notice and the
fact that you can now save even when there has been zero change is
irritating to say the least.

But, the doers decide, and they decided this one ;)

Well, I use Galaxy, and the icon is there, only the star is red. And I tried
some others, like Tango or Sifr and it still is there. So at least the 'only
if' part is not true. I get the impression that the icons in the status bar are
theme-independent.

have a yellow star on the icon, for example.

That works if, and only if Breezy is set as the default icon theme.

The Save button has been extended to allow other kinds of saving.
Because of that additional functions it cannot be dimmed, otherwise you
cannot access those functions. Do you have got the most current
LibreOffice version? It should have icons that indicate saved/unsaved
with a change in the icon. For the icon Galaxy, an unsaved icon will
have a yellow star on the icon, for example.

Fwd: [libreoffice-users] Re: The Save Tool could not be dimmed

2016-05-11 Thread Taang Zomi
*The save tool could not be dimmed *

I updated my LibreOffice for Windows, and I am using 5.1.2.2. Several days
ago, I noticed that the SAVE tool could not be dimmed even when I saved
something.

I attempted to go to

*Tools | Options | LibreOffice | General | Document Status |*
*so that I could uncheck *

* | Allow to save document even when the document is not modified|*

*I did not find *

*| Allow to save document even when the document is not modified|*
but I found

*| Printing sets "document modified" status | * checked

I unchecked it, but I found that nothing changed.

How can I dim the SAVE tool when I save something?

*Thank you.*

*I followed your advice:*

*Tools | Options | LibreOffice | General | Document Status |*

*and then I unclicked | Allow to save document even when the document is
not modified|*

Just a suggestion with the Save button appearing not to dim after saving.
Do you have
"Allow to save document even when the document is not modified"
selected under the LibreOffice > General Options?

This sometimes means that the save button does not dim as you can still
save again.

Just a thought
