Subject: [libreoffice-users] To the moderators

At 1253 today I sent a email to the list under the heading of '
auto-spell checking not working on a fresh install.'
asking for help with Libreoffice 4.0.3.3.

This appears to have been removed from the main mailing list with no reason
given. Why please? It was a genuine request for help with an ongoing
problem that I have.

I look forward to your reply.

Not sure what you think has happened but we saw your post come through opening
a new thread, and it is resident in the TDF Nabble based mail archive, here:

A problem with your Usenet reader configuration?

FWIW, I did not see Sharon's message come through the email version
(just checked my inbox and trash and didn't find a message with that
subject).

But...I seem not to get all messages. I recently missed at least some
of a thread on AppleWorks file conversion, but I got some of them.

I'm not a moderator, but took a look at the archives; Your request
for help is still there.

Could it be that you've simply not seen the message echoed back to you?
This is a common problem with gmail.

I have not received the message in my email either. I clicked the link
for the nabble and was able to verify it was there and also in the
archive and both indicate it was received on the list. Her prior
messages and this message were the same mailbox address. I have
received all the other messages that were posted today. I also viewed
my mailbox folder without threads to make sure it wasn't filed under
something else.

On some of the mail lists I am subscribed; I receive a lot of messages
for several days at one time. I suspect a mail server problem when that
happens.

I also have been receiving bounce notifications from of some my mail
lists. From what I can tell they are usually just one message and the
single list so I have to assume a random Internet problem with the
delivery. However, I wouldn't know if it bounced for others.

Perhaps the information will be of some assistance.
James

Are you subscribed to the list? If not you normally will have to wait
until a moderator reviews and Ok the message for posting. Also replies
to themessage will not come to you unless the person replying specifally
send it to a private email address you provided. Almost all mailing
lists work that way.

Re: [libreoffice-users] To the moderators

2013-05-29 Thread Steve Edmonds

Hi.
This shows in my inbox at 23:53 my local time. I see you have a gmail
account. When I post a message starting a thread with an account hosted
by gmail I don't see the message in the my box. I don't see the message
until someone replies to it and from that point it is seen.
I think this is because of the way gmail handles mail. gmail has only 1
copy of any message and applies labels, it does not have duplicates in
different folders. The original message you send to the list is the same
as the one the list sends back to you and hence to avoid a duplicate the
copy gmail has is the one in your sent mail.

Well, that's my understanding of it.

If you check Nabble you will see if you message made it before it is
replied to.
