Kannel 1.4.3 and svn version bug @ MO.

2011-08-22 Thread krnrd b
Dear All,

I am facing problem @ Kannel application level when i am receiving messages
on Kannel through SMPP and while hitting internal URL i am facing
duplication issue.

Issue is Kannel received MO message on 14th of August for the same SMPP PDU
available and in smsbox it hit the internal URL with the message but after 4
days on 18th of August the same message not available @ bearerbox level but
message got retryed from smsbox.

Please suggest is there is any fix for the same.

Regards,
KRNRDB

Well, yes. There is proper also.

There's always debate on this topic on every mailing-list, where
some people claim one way is the correct or better one, and some
people claim it's the other one, and each of them have their good
reasons... Search on google and you'll find tons of topics on this
matter, and you will be able to see the different opinions about it.
 no offense
I'm subscribed to different mailing lists for more than fifteen years
and I don't have to search google about that subject, IMHO.

At the end of the day, it's the decision of the list owners, and I'm
sure that they have already thought about this and that they won't
 change their mind. :)
Agreed. But, when some random user ask how to reply canonical way I
don't think it is rude to tell about reply to list option if MUA
 support that.

Check your e-mail client software and see if it have reply to list (or
 something similar) option.

Kannel mailing lists works quite well with normal e-mail clients.

OpenSMPPBox - Installed on CentOS 5.2 with Kannel 1.5.0 not starting!

2011-08-22 Thread Mpeirwe Benjamin
Hi All,

I have kannel 1.5.0 running perfectly on My CentOS 5.2 box, I installed
openSMPPBox through SVN as follows:

1. #svn co https://svn.kannel.org/smppbox/trunk
2. #cd /trunk/

3. #./configure

4. #make

5. #make install

Up to this point everything has run fine. Then I create the opensmppbox
configuration file as follows:

group = opensmppbox

bearerbox-host = 127.0.0.1

bearerbox-port = 13000

opensmppbox-id = smppbox1

opensmppbox-port = 9100

log-file = /var/log/kannel/opensmppbox.log

log-level = 0

our-system-id = jeejay

smpp-logins = /etc/opensmppbox/clients.txt

the configuration file is saved as: /etc/kannel/opensmppbox.conf

I try to start opensmppbox (which is located in /usr/local/sbin/) as
follows:

#opensmppbox -v 0 /etc/kannel/opensmppbox.conf

and the error I get is:

[root@nat2 sbin]# opensmppbox -v 0 /etc/kannel/opensmppbox.conf

 Hello,

Thanks Milan, but this does not solve the problem. My configuration file is
a follows:

group = core
 group = opensmppbox

bearerbox-host = 127.0.0.1
bearerbox-port = 13000

opensmppbox-id = smppbox1

log-file = /var/log/kannel/opensmppbox.log

log-level = 0

our-system-id = jeejay

smpp-logins = /etc/opensmppbox/clients.txt

the same error is shown when I run:

#opensmppbox -v 0 /etc/kannel/opensmppbox.conf

Your help will be very much appreciated

There are many reasons to build software package using distribution
package tools, be it dpkg-buildpackage, rpm-build (I don't know exact
name) or package builder for other distributions or OS-es.

First is separation between development and production environment. I
don't like to install development tools (compiler, dev libs, etc...) on
production systems.

Another reason is install/remove/upgrade clean path using
distribution's package managers.

And there are other reasons for sure.

Android APN SMS format

2011-08-22 Thread geo...@omobilo.com
Guys,

Maybe a bit out of kannel scope, but trust this is where the experienced
users are..

Is there any documentation available how to format such an SMS that upon
receipt of SMS, will write the APN Setting to an Android handset?

Assume it will be some binary SMS, and Android will obey some OMA standard
or some spec. Any experience in this territory by anyone on this list and
how to pursue building such an SMS to send via kannel and test receipt and
if it writes to an Android device the APN? It can be achieved if we had a
local app as a listener on device, but the requirement is not to have such a
listener .apk and work natively by the default device itself.

Thanks
G

Re: Android APN SMS format

2011-08-22 Thread Nikos Balkanas
Hi,

No, this is not the right forum. The only thing I can tell you is that
kannel can send any binary SMS to any port you specify in your UDH. To get
the settings for the android, you will have to visit their forum.

RE: DLR and request a dlr_url

2011-08-22 Thread Rene Kluwen
If Kannel is never restarted, the dlr would be in the dlr table of the db
and would not be called.

An exception to this would be if the remote smsc is a kannel-http instance.
In that case, dlr's are called from the remote site.

Rene... what if DLR-store is set to DB and Kannel was never restarted, would
Kannel ever fail to call the DLR URL when it does have a DLR from the SMSC ?

Essentially, am trying to see how reliable Kannel can be in managing DLR.

The web server might reply with anything but a 2xx response (40x, 50x) due

Hello

I'm using kannel, smsbox, sqlbox and I have a problem with getting dlr on my
dlr_url. When I send sms pass dlr_url
(http://host/sms/smstransportstatus.php?sms_id=%d
http://host/sms/smstransportstatus.php?sms_id=%25dtime=%25tstatus=%25d
time=%tstatus=%d).
When changing the status of sms, kannel sends status to my script specified
in dlr_url, but somehow it does not always happen, although the base is
sqlbox all statuses.

How can I get the guaranteed status on my dlr_url?
Or can I request a status on their own for the id given me.

The documentation is a description:

Note: If you put your own message ID in the dlr-url like in the example
above, you can then use this ID to update your database with the message
status.

But how to take advantage of?

Best regards

Let me know and thank you in advanced

Re: SQLBox - Meta Data / Tlvs

2011-08-22 Thread JAmes
Hi Nikos,

In our scenario, we receive TLV data on the MO and need to send it back to
the SMSC on the MT.

In the docs I have seen that smsbox can do it by posting the key, value
pairs in the meta data part.

J

TLVs are defined per SMSc, which is implemented in bearerbox. They don't
have anything to do with sqlbox. Data from TLVs are passed on from bearerbox
as metadata, which is supported by latest sqlbox.

 Hi,

I am just wondering if SQLBox supports the optional TLVs. If so, what
format do they need to be in the database?
