[one-users] [ BUG ] opennebula-sunstone-4.6.1-1.x86_64 : Unresponsive Updating Templates

2014-05-29 Thread Damon (Albino Geek)

Hello Mailing List,

Preface, physical server information:

Processor: Single E5-1650 v2 [ 6/12 @ 3.50 GHz / Ivy Bridge ]
Storage: 2x 6TB HDD [ Local Storage via default data-stores ]

Software types and versions installed:

Operating System: Linux
Distribution: Cent OS
Version: 6.5
Architecture: x86_64 (64 bit)
Kernel: 2.6.32-431.17.1.el6

opennebula-common-4.6.1-1.x86_64
opennebula-4.6.1-1.x86_64
opennebula-server-4.6.1-1.x86_64

---
The actual issue:
---

After creating a new SunStone + KVM Node configuration, as specified in
your QuickStart documentation [ without NFS configuration, as both the
frontend and backend are on the same server for testing. ] I have created
the host machine and network in the CLI, then did the following:

I attempted to update one of my existing templates, [ created via the
following raw template data as imported into the SunStone via the second
option. ] When I attempt to Update the template, the web interface
stalls for some 10-60 seconds, other times it doesn't ever come up [ the
template in wizard mode to edit. ] This issue is not seen with the CLI,
so I know the issue is not a slow database. The default .sqlite database
is being used.

This issue was not seen in the previous version [4.6] , it appears new to
[4.6.1] ; but I have not had this hardware before then, so I cannot
confirm this.

---
Steps to Reproduce:
---

1. Click on any template in SunStone
2. Click Update and wait...

[one-users] oneacct API questions

2014-06-18 Thread Damon (Albino Geek)

Hello Users,

Please see the TAB SEPARATED VALUES dump of an XMLRPC request to the
oneacct API:

http://i.imgur.com/1OyLw8f.png

I'm getting interesting values from the Accounting API, and it's not very
well documented [ OID, HID, CID, etcetera have no description in the XSD ]
; and I'm seeing a lot of overlapping STIME-ETIME , any idea how to work
through this?

Which record(s) should be considered for billing calculation, which
records does SunStone use in the new Accounting tab under a user?

Re: [one-users] Nomadic CentOS repository: WHY?!?

2014-08-25 Thread Damon (Albino Geek)

Hello,

I found that there is actually a prebuilt 4.8 context RPM in one of their
source trees (not GitHub).

As per the repo change, this new version actually makes more sense and
follows proper repo format.
http://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/6/os/x86_64/ being an example repository
that follows standard format.

The stable path part didn't make any sense considering how versions work
in OpenNebula.

openneb-users-20120...@billmail.scconsult.com wrote:

Past OpenNebula 4.x releases have been packaged as RPM's for CentOS
available in a yum repository with a baseurl of
'http://downloads.opennebula.org/repo/CentOS/6/stable/$basearch'

For some inscrutable reason, 4.8 RPMs are not there. Instead, the 4.8
docs on the website now direct us to a repo at the baseurl
'http://downloads.opennebula.org/repo/4.8/CentOS/6/x86_64/'

Is there a rational explanation for this? One of the main points of
using a package management system like yum/RPM is to simplify updates,
but this change obfuscates the visibility of the update and seems to
indicate a plan to hide future releases as well.

Also, the new repo lacks an RPM for opennebula-context and the release
notes point to a github repo which includes a script to build packages
from the source. Does this mean there will no longer be a prebuilt RPM
of opennebula-context?

Re: [one-users] Nomadic CentOS repository: WHY?!?

2014-08-25 Thread Damon (Albino Geek)

I agree with you on both parts, I was just stating what I noticed on both.
As per the former, it is built on 4.8 (explicitly listed as Revision 4.8
one-context.rpm)

http://dev.opennebula.org/projects/opennebula/files
http://dev.opennebula.org/attachments/download/804/one-context_4.8.0.rpm
http://dev.opennebula.org/attachments/download/806/one-context_4.8.0.deb

That's where I found them.

That's not exactly helpful. The fact that there's an RPM in some unnamed
place built from who-knows-what revision is an interesting and maybe
indicative factoid, but it does not clarify whether or not there will be
a canonical RPM for the package in the same repository as those for the
other packages (or anywhere documented.)

The '4.8' part doesn't make any sense in any context, and *changing* the
baseurl for the repository with each release does away with a key reason
for using a package repository.

Nevertheless, I used -r and assumed it would re-create the VM, but

tm should handle this by removing or using the old snap/disk, isn't it?

I do think that it should be better handled by the CephFS TM.

Re: [one-users] DISK 0: User 0 does not own an image with name

2015-05-29 Thread Damon (Albino Geek)

That's why if you're hard-coding your templates like that,
you should be using the UID + Name if you want compatability;
OR you use only Image ID directly, as it will never fail.

Also remember guys, OpenNebula Mailing List is now a Forum.
