In any case, the underscores and shortcuts are familiar to those of us who use more than one platform, and provide a more consistent cross platform experience. I do not have much patience with the purists who seem to think that if it’s a Mac, you need to point and click rather than use a keyboard shortcut! Could you enable the shortcuts and allow an option for the underscores to be visible or not? jt --- List Conduct Guidelines: http://openoffice.apache.org/list-conduct.html To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

In Writer, do you see underlined letters in the main menu, like the F in File and the E in Edit? And aren't you able to use (the Mac equivalent of) Alt+F, Alt+E... to open the menus? NO - and that's the issue - it did work that way in OS2 (and probably win doze). Alt (which is the option key on a mac) doesn't bring up any of the menubar items.
