The easiest way is to enter the data it asks for. That data is written 
to your Apace OpenOffice (AOO) profile and is used by many of the letter 
wizards that come with it and can also be used to manually insert the 
data into documents

I assume that you have other word-processor files that work OK in OpenOffice? 
If so, it's possible that something has become corrupted in this particular 
file. Are you able to do Edit >  Select All (or just control-A)? If so, you 
could try do that and then Edit > Copy (or control-C) and then paste it into a 
new document, either as a regular paste (control-V) or with Edit > Paste 
Special > Paste Unformatted Text.

Du schreibst zwar nix über das verwendete Betriebssystem, doch ich rate mal, 
dass es Windows ist.
Benenne mal Dein Benutzerverzeichnis mit einem anderen Namen. Das ist 
ungefährlich und lässt sich rückgängig machen. Wie Du es findest, steht hier:

This is usually caused by a Microsoft Windows update changing the File 
Associations for OpenOffice files to point instead to MS Office.  All one needs 
to do is reset such file associations to point to OpenOffice as the default 
application for these.  Look up how to do this - it is simple.

This file capture may happen repeatedly with other Windows updates in future.

You say that Microsoft [Office] has taken over all your OpenOffice files. That 
suggests it is the default productivity application suite. If you genuinely 
have "no use whatsoever" for Microsoft office, uninstalling it should free you 
from it and cause your documents to be opened by another app, e.g. OpenOffice 
or LibreOffice, provided that a suitable app is available, but I can’t remember 
if the available or selected app automatically becomes the new default app or 
if you have to set the default.

I say uninstalling MS Office "should free you from it" because I do not know if 
a MS Windows computer will allow you to uninstall MS Office, perhaps Mr Gates 
may insist that you keep MS Office so that he can keep billing you for it 
because you have to use it because it keeps preventing you from using any 
alternative. I had MS Office on my Mac under an Education licence for a few 
years, because it was required for my children’s schoolwork, but I uninstalled 
it when they no longer needed it (and I was glad to be rid of it), but I don’t 
know if you can uninstall it from a Windows computer.

However, you should not have to uninstall MS Office unless you really do want 
to get rid of it, you should be able to open your documents with any available 
alternate application. On the Mac this is done by right-clicking on the 
document’s icon, then scrolling in the selection window to “Open With” and 
selecting the app you want to use from the list of available applications, or 
selecting “Other …” to open the Applications folder if the app you want to use 
is not listed in the initial selection window, or selecting “App Store …” if 
the app you want is not installed, then download and install the app, or in the 
case of OO or LO go instead to the download website to get the app.  

The previous paragraph outlines how to open a document on the Mac with a 
non-default app (unless the default app is the only one available). I assume 
that Windows must offer some equivalent procedure. It is a long time since I 
have reset the default app for a document on the Mac, so I would probably have 
to look up how to do it now, which I assume you should be able to do as easily 
as me, and if you are using Windows it will almost certainly be a different 
procedure anyway, so there would be no point in me telling you how to do it on 
the Mac, but surely Windows cannot be so inferior to the Mac that it doesn't 
let you set a default app when more than one of your installed apps is able to 
open a document? I prefer the Mac for its desktop, dock, and filing system, the 
OS itself is all but irrelevant, because whether you use Mac, Linux, or Windows 
they all do pretty much the same thing, they just go about it a bit 
differently, so what you can do on one you should be able to do on another.

In the unlikely event that you discover that your problem actually is in 
OpenOffice rather than in the OS’s default app configuration, you could try 
LibreOffice, a popular alternative to OpenOffice. I have used OO routinely on 
the Mac for many years, and I occasionally used LO on Linux (their documents 
are interchangeable), and I have recently switched from OO to LO on the Mac 
because the last OO update seemed to introduce some glitches. Some features are 
implemented better on OO than on LO, and some are better on LO than OO, and a 
couple of LO’s ways of doing things still annoy me even though I should be used 
to them by now, but LO is at least as good as OO overall, so if you are having 
problems with OO it could be worth trying LO, but I doubt that your problem is 
in the app, you will almost certainly find it is in the default app selection.

Maybe idea out of left field, but is there plenty of free space on drive
that is target of save? Especially if OS is on that drive too.

If not, try saving to a different drive or a thumb drive.

Have experienced very strange problems with drives that have run out of
space.

5 months writing, and no backups?  Tut tut! You may have powered off your 
computer before the file was written to disk from the Write buffers.

If you are using Windows, try the methods set out in this Tutorial which will 
tell how to find and undelete temporary files which OpenOffice used in course 
of editing.

Die Standardursache dafür ist üblicherweise das der Inhalt der Datei nur noch 
aus der vielfachen Aneinanderreihung des Wertes MUL 
(https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nullzeichen) besteht, was OO aus "#" darstellt.

Im Forum wurde jüngst erst beschrieben, wie man prüfen kann ob diese Ursache 
vorliegt:

Der Betreff und Deine Beschreibung des Problems sind superknapp. Es fehlen z.B. 
die Tätigkeiten, die Du außer Schreiben und Speichern eventuell noch gemacht 
hast, sowie eventuelle Tätigkeiten mit Deinem Betriebssystem (welches?).

Ich würde mal Folgendes probieren:
Markiere den kompletten Text (MacOS: [cmd] + [a]; Windows [ctrl] + [a]) und 
wechsle mal den Zeichensatz und/oder die Schriftgröße. Vielleicht hilft dies 
schon - dann war es ein Problem mit der Darstellung der Zeichen. Bitte gib 
Rückmeldung, falls dies geholfen hat, falls nicht: Beschreibe bitte etwas 
genauer, was im Einzelnen Du gemacht hast.

To turn off the display toggle /View /Field Shadings.

To remove them completely from the file, select one, Ctrl C, open /Edit /Find 
and Replace, click cursor in Find box and then Ctrl V.  Click cursor in Replace 
box, press spacebar, then press Replace All button.

A Table of contents is Generated using styles defined in on the Styles tab of 
/Insert /Indexes and Tables Indexes and Tables > Table of Contents.  To cause 
it to change you need to alter the defining criteria (usually the Heading

ich habe das Tabellenformat geladen und es zeigt unvorbereitet bei Format -

Standardeinstellungen habe ich in Dezimal und deutsche Maßangaben neu im 
geladenen Open Office eingegeben. Jetzt habe ich die Tabellenseite wieder 
geöffnet aber  bei der Zeilenhöhe Einstellung erscheint wieder das Zeichen für 
Inch“. Wo kann ich diese falsche Voreinstellung korrigieren und auf cm 
einstellen? Ich arbeite mit dem macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6.

Hallo Axel,

ich habe jetzt aktuell, nochmals auf der Developer-Mailingliste gefragt und 
erhalte dort explizit die Aussage das AOO 4.1.8 unter BigSur eigentlich 
funktioniert und es nur Probleme mit OOXML-Dateien, also docx, xlsx usw. gibt.

Sollte Dein Problem also nicht darin bestehen das Du nicht docx, xlsx usw. 
öffnen kannst liegt der Fehler irgendwie an Deinem Systen bzw. Deiner 
Installation von AOO.


Hilfe dazu kann ich Dir, mangels Kenntnisse zu MacOS, nicht geben aber 
vielleicht ist es ja schon hilfreich diesen Fakt zu kennen?

Jan;
What is happening is that the lock file (.~.lock"filename") is not being
cleared when you save and close the document. This usually happens
either because of a power failure or more likely shutting down or
closing the lid on a laptop to soon.There is some internal housecleaning
that has to happen such as making sure all the buffers are written to
the disk, that cache is cleaned up and lastly the lock file is deleted.
If you interrupt this process by shutting the lid on a laptop or
powering off the computer etc. That will leave the lock file in place.
Always follow proper shutdown procedures for you operating system.

*Create a new document with Writer.
*Save it as a Microsoft Word file, either .doc or .docx format, then close
Writer.
*Open Writer again and open the .doc(x) file that was just created.

If the file opens without the warning then it is possible the anti-malware
program on your computer is causing the problem. I have found reports of
this type of problem with Bitdefender.

If the test file did open without warning then disable your anti-malware
program (Bitdefender or whatever it may be) and try again to open some of
your Open Office documents. If they open without the warning then the
problem is the anti-malware program.

Report the problem to the anti-malware software vendor via their support
site. If they don't have a ready solution then find a different
anti-malware solution. Better to stay protected by moving to a different
product than stay unprotected waiting an indefinite amount of time for a
solution from the software vendor.

ich hatte dasselbe Problem. Unter Chip.de fand ich den folgenden
Lösungsvorschlag, der funktioniert hat.

"Falls bei Ihnen die Sprache korrekt eingestellt ist und trotzdem alles
rot unterstrichen bleibt, lesen Sie hier weiter.

1. Um das Problem zu beheben, müssen Sie einen Ordner umbenennen.
2. Der Ordner befindet sich in "AppData" und dort in einem Unterordner.
3. Ein Beispieldateipfad für diesen Ordner kann folgendermaßen
   aussehen:
   "C:\Users\[Benutzername]\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4\user\uno_packages"
4. Möglich ist jedoch auch der folgende Ort: "C:\Dokumente und
   Einstellungen\[Benutzername]\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4\user\uno_packages"
5. Beachten Sie, dass die "4" in diesen Beispielpfaden für die
   Open-Office-Version steht.
6. Ändern Sie den Namen des Ordner "uno_packages". Welche Bezeichnung
   Sie dafür verwenden, ist unerheblich."

Danach habe ich OO deinstalliert und neu installiert. Alles
funktionierte wieder.

Die eigentliche Ursache hat ja Alois schon genannt. Um solche Probleme
wie bei dir zu vermeiden, sollte man RegEx eigentlich grundsätzlich
abschalten (und abgeschaltet halten), sofern man nicht exzessiv damit

aktuelle Tabelle, entsprechen eh nur den Defaultwerten), kannst du das
gleiche auch viel eleganter lösen mit

oder

| =VERWEIS(A19;$A$1:$A$7;$C$1:$C$7)

Löscht man die Klammer geht es. Der eigentliche Fehler muss aber etwas Anderes 
sein, denn ich stosse auf folgende Lösung:

Speichere die Datei als *.xls
Wähle Datei-Neu Laden
Speichere die Datei jetzt als *.ods

Letztere Datei funktioniert nun.

interpretiert.

Es gibt zwei einfache Möglichkeiten zur Problemvermeidung:
- reguläre Ausdrücke in Formeln deaktivieren: Extras -> Optionen -> 
Libreoffice Calc -> Platzhalter für Formeln -> andere Option wählen

oder vermutlich besser
- die Klammern ersetzen z.B. durch eckige Klammern

Apache is not a commercial operation; all help here is provided by volunteers 
on a pro bono basis in  their own time.

Use /File /Page Preview, and pull the scaling factor to the left.

For diagnostic information please try selecting some text, then use /Format 
/Character : Font effects tab, and change the Font colour by using the dropdown 
beside the current colour (probably "automatic").  Does the colour of the 
selected text change?  This will let us know if the colour selection mechanism 
is broken or not.

Hallo,

ja, wenn man zu schnell Sachen einfügt mit Copy-paste und das zu große 
Daten sind, dann kann das Programm das nicht mehr verarbeiten und hängt 
sich auf. Gleiches gilt in Calc, wenn man versehentlich ganze Spalten 
Kopiert und einfügt oder sonstwie bearbeitet. Eine Mio Zeilen und 1000 
Spalten ist einfach zu groß.


Passiert mir häufiger auf Win7.

Lösung? Abbrechen, bzw. Killen mit Taskmanager und neu anfangen. Die 
Sicherheitskopie gibt dir dann Wiederherstellen an und du musst das 
letzte noch einmal machen.


Vorsichtsmaßnahme: Vor dem Bearbeiten mit Copy und Paste vorher einmal 
STRG-S Drücken und speichern- Dann warten bis gespeichert ist!! Das 
dauert bei großen Dokumenten u.U.!


Aber Achtung. Anscheinend stürzt das Programm auch ab, wenn man Copy 
Past macht, wenn es gerade eine Automatisch Sicherung macht oder man 
Speichert.

Vielleicht mal das Problem vernünftig beschreiben? Ich versteh nämlich
nur Bahnhof.

Modul (Writer?)? Version? Betriebssystem? Hast du das Dokument neu
erstellt, oder ein bestehendes geöffnet? Was genau hast du direkt vor
dem Absturz gemacht? Was danach? usw.

Dave, be that as it may, a party like Apple or Windows can still
make false claims that the software comes from an untrusted site
and thus prevent it's installation.
Alas, this is part of "software wars" and it will only get worse
unless legislators take steps to prevent it.

Matthias is the one who currently creates all of the Windows builds as a 
volunteer. We are all volunteers and SourceForge has generously donated to our 
community hosting for well over 250,000,000 million downloads for the last 8 
years.

Our macOS builds support version 10.7 and greater. Apple has evolved their 
Gatekeeper program over this time period. There are ways to get around this and 
usually someone will point this out. Try looking at forums.openoffice.org.

Actually you should be concerned about malware from OpenOffice.de where the 
windows installer and Linux repos are repackaged by the owner of that domain.

There are ways to verify that you are getting the correct package that involve

Don has a very good point.
I think OpenOffice should stop using sourceforge.net because
sourceforge does NOT check to see if the software projects it
hosts are malware free.
In addition, Apple is invested in selling MS office ported to the MAC-OS.
So, I think Apple's code that rejects SW downloaded from sourceforge
is simply a protectionism against free software.
I hope that someone takes apple to court and files a huge class action
lawsuit.

SourceForge is the place people put software that is open source.  It is 
perfectly safe (at least for OpenOffice).  I am running mine download of 
OpenOffice on a Mac and Windows and virus checks on both came out negative for 
viruses or malware.

Die Neuinstallation von Openoffice ändert an deinen Dokumenten nichts. 
Sie sind weiterhin da, wo sie vorher waren.


Hast du aber deine Anwenderdaten gelöscht und keine Sicherung irgendwo 
abgelegt, dann sind sie weg.


Alles wichtige solltest du irgendwo zusätzlich sichern.

Wenn es um deinen User-Account unter Windows geht, dann benötigst du
einen funktionierenden Account, und zumindest die Anmeldungsdaten eines
Account mit Admin-Rechten. Mit dessen Daten kannst du auch die
Verzeichnisse anderer User (hier die des "verlorenen" Accounts) öffnen,
und einmal drin, natürlich auch die Dateien dort heraus an eine sicher
Stelle kopieren.

Das hat aber absolut nix mit OO o. ä. zu tun, sondern ist rein ein
Problem auf Ebene des Betriebssystems.

Wahrscheinlich würde sie gar nicht, weil du einfach noch Abstände
(Zeilen, Absätze) dazu rechnen musst; Augenmaß ist da manchmal [tm]

Ja; das hat technische Gründe. Wenn der Platz zu eng wird, merkt das
Programm das zwangsweise sofort, und muss entsprechend auch sofort
reagieren. Das siehst du ja.

Darauf, dass der Platz sozusagen zu weit ist, reagiert es jedoch
sicherheitshalber erst, wenn es sich relativ sicher sein kann, dass das
dann auch passen wird. Das ist das, worüber du stolperst.

Aber überleg mal, was passieren könnte, wenn da auch sofort reagiert
werden würde: Das Programm denkt, es könnte genug Platz vorhanden sein,
und berechnet die Verteilung neu. Dadurch werden aber ggf. eingebettete
Objekte (Grafiken, ...) mit verschoben, oder die Absatzabstände o. ä.
sind sehr unglücklich aka groß gewählt, so dass der tatsächlich
verfügbare Platz (gegenüber dem vermeintlichen) so sehr eingeengt wird,
dass ein Platzmangel entsteht, was zwangsweise zu einer sofortigen
Neuberechnung des Platzbedarfs - und praktisch wieder dem alten Zustand
- führt. Somit wird aber wieder so viel Platz davor frei, dass das
Programm erneut denkt, es könnte genug Platz zum Verschieben sein, und
berechnet die Platzaufteilung neu. Dadurch werden aber ggf. vorhandene
Objekte usw. mit verschoben, was zu erneutem Platzmangel führt, usw.,
usf. Du ahnst vielleicht schon, worauf das dann hinaus laufen würde,
nämlich auf eine Endlosschleife, sprich das Programm würde sich aufhängen.

Auch so schon kann man in - zugegeben seltenen - Einzelfällen ein
entsprechendes Verhalten beobachten, nämlich dass sich das Layout zwei-
oder sogar mehrfach direkt hintereinander ändert, sprich der Platzbedarf
neu berechnet werden muss. Dann ist genau die oben beschriebene,
unglückliche Situation eingetreten. Übrigens was bislang IIRC viermal
das höchste, das ich persönlich durchaus schon beobachten konnte. Das
Problem existiert also gar nicht s theoretisch. :-/

ist nicht stabil.
Mich wundert außerdem, warum manchmal ein großer Abstand unten bleibt, 
in den die nächste Zeile passen würde und manchmal nicht.


Das lässt mich rätseln. Folgendes.

ich füge oberhalb des Pseudokastens eine Zeile ein, bis die Fusszeile in 
die neue Seite rutscht. Dann lösche ich die Zeile wieder, aber die 
Fusszeile bleibt.


Erst wenn ich noch eine Zeile lösche und wieder hinzufüge ist es wieder 
richtig. Warum dieses Verhalten und was habe ich bei den Einstellungen 
übersehen?

Mit den Tricks bekomme  ich es hin. Ist aber echt seltsam. Wenn ich den 
Absatz vergrößere rutscht der "Rahmen" (Ich weiß dass es Fließtext ist, 
sollt so sein) in den nächste Seite. Verkleinere ich ihn wieder, bleibt 
er da.


Aber das bekomme ich geregelt.

vor bzw. nach einem Absatz herum spielst, bis es so passt, wie du möchtest.

2) Du aktivierst bei allen Absätzen in dem rahmen *bis* *auf* *den*
*letzten* die Optionen "Format => Absatz => Textfluss => [X] Absatz
nicht trennen" und "... => [X] Absätze zusammenhalten", dann wird der
gesamte Block zumindest entweder auf die vorherige oder die nachfolgende
Seite gesetzt.

3) Du verwendet sein /richtigen/ Rahmen (Einfügen => Rahmen"); den
kannst du dann mit "Rechtsklick => Verankerung" an z. B. die Seite
verankern, und dann frei genau so positionieren, wie du möchtest. Der
"normale" Text fließt dann je nach Einstellung (Rechtsklick => Umlauf =>
...) außen herum.

Und den neuen Absatz bekommst du mit "Format => Absatz => Textfluss =>
Umbrüche [X] Einfügen, Typ: Seite" auf die nächste Seite. Warum bei so
einem harten Seitenumbruch allerdings auf jeder Folgeseite jeweils eine
obere Rahmenlinie dargestellt wird, kann ich jetzt so auch nicht sagen;

In der Mausmenüleiste gibt es einen Button "Datei bearbeiten"; ist
normalerweise so ungefähr der fünfte von links. Damit erzeugt OO eine
bearbeitbare Kopie, allerdings nur im Hauptspeicher. Du darfst also
nicht vergessen, diese zu speichern.

Nur eine Idee dazu:
Kann es sein, dass Du die Tabelle als Anhang in einem Mailprogramm 
vorliegen hast?

Wenn Du nun die Datei direkt daraus öffnest
(und nicht irgendwo zwischenspeicherst - und diese dann öffnest),
gibt es genau Dein unten beschriebenes Verhalten.
War zumindest bei mir so.

Hallo Horst,

ich gehe mal davon aus, dass Du die Datei mit Writer erstellt und als 
odt gespeichert hast.
Vermutlich mußt Du nur die Eínstellung "Öffnen mit ..." im Windows Menue 
ändern in

"diese Dateien [odt] immer mit AOO oder LO öffnen".

Grundsätzlich wäre es bei Hilferufen praktisch, etwas Genaueres zu 
erfahren, zB. welche

Arbeitsschritte zur vermeintlichen Fehlermeldung führten.

Hallo Jörg,

ich habe es jetzt nochmal versucht, und habe es auch gefunden. Dabei habe 
ich festgestellt, dass ich da vor ein paar Tagen auch schon mal unterwegs 
war, aber aufgrund einer Warnmeldung oder eines Missverständnisses habe ich 
einen neuen User angelegt, und mich nicht getraut, den bisherigen 
umzubenennen. Das habe ich jetzt versucht, und habe festgestellt, dass es 
funktioniert und mein Problem auf jeden Fall beseitigt hätte.

klicken, ging

Auch die Möglichkeit, das Benutzerverzeichnis zu ändern,
hatte ich schon bei
meinen Recherchen gefunden, habe aber den Pfad ...
AppData/Roaming/... auf
meinem PC vergeblich gesucht,


das hängt mit Windows zusammen, dort ist das Verzeichnis "AppData" ein 
verstecktes Verzeichnis, was zunächst über Systemsteuerung-Ordner-Optionen 
sichtbar gemacht werden muss.


Oder nutze folgende Datei:

wenn Du dort das Makro startest und im erscheinenden Dialog auf OK klickst 
kommst Du direkt zum user-Verzeichnis auch wenn das Verzeichnis "AppData" 
versteckt ist.
