Re: [users] Animation in Impress is really bad

I create presentations for my students to introduce the evolution process of
some technical details. Animations can make some ideas more intuitive and

I disliked the animation at first. But soon later, I changed my opinion

surprising. So a gifted Impress with a wonderful presentation can promote

[users] Math formula in Impress

2009-05-08 Thread Xiang Liu
The behavior in Impress should be improved.

Everyone hopes a natural and flowing style of writing. In Writer, a math
formula is always located at the first place where you activate the formula
editor. It looks like the natural part of a sentence. But in Impress, a just
inputted formula is always placed in the center of screen and one has to
move it to the place he wants. Besides this, one must take care that a
formula does not override any text.

As a consequence, we have to type text as follows:
Assume ( here, space and space and space and ... and space, reserved for
any further formula), then ...

Re: [users] Re: How to convert the field of a word file to plain text?

2009-02-05 Thread Xiang Liu
Sorry, I consider I have give some obscure descriptions in my letter. So I
want to clarify them here.
Basically, Noop's answer is what my want!
I just want to complement the problem's description:
1. using openoffice to open http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/359105/abc.odt
2. check the document, and everything is OK.
3. resave the document into word(*.doc) file.
4. open just saved abc.doc in MS Word
5. until now, everything is ok.

6. But the problem is: abc.doc is sensitive to F9 in MS Word. When we
cooperate with others, the sensitivity will be a big trouble for us. If you
select all and then press F9, the chapter information will be lost ( . Just
as Noop has said: The problem appears to be that the level setting is not
being preserved in the .doc file.. If we right-click drawing 1.1 in MS Word
and select switch field code, we will see SEQ Drawing \*Arabic which
doesn't contain chapter information. That why I want to convert all field
information into plain text in the beginning.

Note: If you Press Ctrl+A and find the F9 does not affect any numbering.
It is because figures are protected by wrapped framebox(textbox in MS Word).
But this doesn't mean abc.doc is not sensitive to F9 and is robust enough
for collaboration.

[users] How to convert the field of a word file to plain text?

2009-01-15 Thread Xiang Liu
I have a file written in open office wirter. Recently, I have a need to
cooperate someone else using Microsoft word. So I resave my document to MS
Word format in OpenOffice Writer. There are many fields in my document such
fig.4.2. In MSWord, this code, for example { SEQ fig \*Arabic} will lose
chapter number and display as fig.2.

So I need a way to keep the auto-numbering information (just the plain text
needed) and remove the fields functionality. I know a way which is to save
document into rtf first, then open it in wordpad. Yes, it works, but some
pictures of my original document will disappear.

I just want to ask if there is another way to change the field to plain text
and keep the content of fields.

[users] Re: How to convert the field of a word file to plain text?

2009-01-15 Thread Xiang Liu
I have share three documents here
1. abc.odt http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/359105/abc.odt
2. abc.doc http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/359105/abc.doc
3. abc.rtf http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/359105/abc.rtf

abc.odt is the simplified original document of mine.
abc.doc is the word version saved from openoffcie (from abc.odt)
abc.rtf is the rtf version saved from openoffice(from abc.odt)

if you open abc.doc by msword, you will see drawing 1.1, it's OK. But be
careful, if you choose it and press F9, drawing 1.1 will change to drawing
1.
if you open abc.rtf by wordpad, you will see the picutures' missing.

Could you record a macro ESC ESC END and assign it to a key. Pressing the

Sorry, actually, I mean paragraphs. I apologize for it.

I like peter's suggestion. Especially, the use of section with hide
property(conditional hide). In this way, I can set a switch variable(a
filed) in the beginning of document, then turn the wanted paragraphs
into hidden section by inserting section. The visibility of sections
is controled by the switch variable. Once a document has been
finished, the only thing to do is turn the switch so as to hide all
unnecessary text.

But, even the note of OO, as a review tool, is not enough for

left lbrace matrix{
y=y_0 e^{A%tau} [e^{(A+c)w}e^{Ad}]^(m-1) e^{(A+c)[t-(m-1)(%tau+w+d)]} # x in
[%tau+(m-1)(w+d), %tau+(m-1)(w+d)+w]  ## y=y_0 e^{A%tau}
[e^{(A+c)w}e^{Ad}]^(m-1) e^{(A+c)w}e^{A[t-(%tau+(m-1)(w+d)+w)]} # x in
[%tau+(m-1)(w+d)+w, %tau+m(w+d)+w] } right none

I want to re-arrange the x-interval contraint to the next line with right
alignment. In this way, the whole equation should have four lines with a
left brace. But I found the newline mark doesnot work with left lbrace and
right rbrace, and does not work with binom either.

Any suggestion here? Say thanks in advance. PS: 12pt font size should be
kept.

[users] Can I change the font size of all existed equations

2008-07-29 Thread Xiang Liu
Can I change the font size of all existed equations in writer, not
individually?

I have tried to set the default font size in Format--font size, but It only
apply for new formulas.
