Re: VGAS
Dave I am pretty sure anyone with flat slide either runs none or foam uni filters. Scott thanks for the answer, I was hoping Vgas was something other than flatslides, for some reason I thought it was a mod to stock carbs. T Meritt #671 . To unsubscribe go to http://www.sayegh.org/unsubscribe.htm .

Scott, Did I remember your post correctly? Did you say you have the vgas system now? If so this is a $2000.00 mod isnt it? Or did I hear that wrong? If it is that pricey is it worth the extra ponies it creates? I know myself that just the appearence of the system makes you want to write a check. Did Jon make a before and after dyno sheet showing the midrange increase , Thats where this system really shines isnt it? If he did could they be posted? Last question scott , can the system be tuned ourselves or does jon prefer to install and tune complete. Excellent vboost artical material if it hasnt been done yet. scott mellor #870 . No the carbs are definatly flatslides. The difference lies in the manifolds and the velocity stacks. Scott . To unsubscribe go to http://www.sayegh.org/unsubscribe.htm .
Re: VGAS
Yes I have VGAS now. It is pricy but the difference is unbelieveable. I will be posting the before and after dyno runs in the next few days. In a nut shell, My bike went into the shop a stage 7 with 2.5" Kerker making 110.2 rwhp and around 70 lb/ft of torque. I had tuned it as high as 115 but it was really lean. I had spent over a year with countless jet/needle/exhaust system combinations. No help, my bike with CV carbs wouldn't make the hp I wanted. I had considered selling it I was so frustrated. Out of the box VGAS with zero tuning, my bike jumped to 121 hp. After about 50 dyno runs and 10 hours in Jon's shop(yes I was there the entire time)131.8 rwhp and 88.7 lb/ft of torque. Extremely flat torque curve with NO midrange dip. I was leary of the HP claims when I first started reading about this system. I couldn't see 20+ hp coming from carbs, flatslides or not. But I was proven wrong. The radical looks are just an added bonus. Is it worth the money? I suppose that depends on how you look at it. I considered a Tourmaster, it works out to about $40 per hp if you figure $6000/150 hp. VGAs for me worked out for about $14.40 per hp @ $1900/132hp. Sure it is not 150 hp like a Tourmaster, but imagine what it will be like when I put it on a 1500cc bike in a year or so. SH! Best thing was I didn't loose my bike for a year. Two days worth of work that you can do yourself(thought I would recommend taking it to Jon to have done) As Mario has said, " that guy can find HP in a rock" A v-boost article is already in the works. i have a 93 max that seems to wear out front tires very quickly. i use high quality tires (pirelli, metzler, dunlop) but they all start to "cup" after about 4k miles. the front end has progressive springs, furber fix, fork brace and new wheel bearings. I'm aware that all front bike tires will cup, but it seems mine cup prematurely. any help or suggestions would be appreciated PeoplePC: It's for people. And it's just smart. http://www.peoplepc.com . Laszlo, What air pressure are you running ??? I use 30 psi in my front K-591 and NEVER got any problem with uneven wear!! Mario It's a simple process. If you ride on a race track where your rubber heats up you use lower pressure because your tires will heat generating more pressure and the rubber gets softer. If you don't "performance ride" more air pressure will keep the tires cooler and rubber harder giving you more tire life and better wear. Two identical bikes with different riding styles dictate different pressures. In Mario's case, it snows and it just sits in the garage so it doesn't need air...and the tires don't wear -- === Paul Sayegh V-Max Technical List Administrator VMOA Northwest Director V-Max web page http://www.sayegh.org/tips.htm BMW web page http://www.sayegh.org/bmw.htm === . A problem with replacing the tail light with the LED unit is that the bike utilizes the same bulbs to light the license plate too throught the clear lens on the bottom of the light. Will the LED unit throw enough light down and will the red light light the plate? The product that JEG'S sells are red LED designed to be used with clear lenses on automobiles. The manufacturer of these LED bulbs is American Products Company. I wrote them a letter yesterday to get more information on these bulbs. The APC website doesn't even list these bulbs. If they were able to manufacture them with red LED's they should also be able to use white or amber LED's as well. I am looking for amber to use with my clear turn signal lenses. At this time, I have amber incandescent bulbs in my turn signals.
