[vos-d] version control

Ok, I have to admit that after sitting down and reading more about it,
Bazarr-ng looks pretty cool. I also read about Monotone a bit, but I
found it rather confusing. Tomorrow I'm going to try out Bazaar-ng and
determine if it's ready for prime time. Being able to make commits to
local branches without needing network connectivity is a very attractive
feature.

My biggest concern is that we generally tell people to pull down the
latest version of code from CVS for testing, and that going to a less
familiar system (bzr) is going to require that people learn a strange new
version control client at the same time as learning the VOS codebase.
Basic operations in subversion are conceptually very simple and there is
tons of documentation for it, whereas with bzr... not so much.

So I may well go ahead with the original plan and migrate to subversion.
Since Reed and I do 99% of VOS development, we're the ones who ultimately
are going to be dealing with it most of the time. Other users are just
going to be doing simple checkouts and updates.

[vos-d] milestone

Just wanted to mention, I reached a milestone tonight. Although I haven't
gotten ter'angreal compiled, I do now have a working version of vostest
(the sample vos app in CS) that was built with Visual Studio 8. This
means we're in very good shape supporting this compiler and build system.

I've also got vostest working built with MingW. I should have Ter'Angreal
built quite soon.

So we are in very good shape for Windows support in the next version.
The remaining task is going to be updating the build documentation so that
hopefully others can follow what I've done.

This means we're feature complete for 0.23.0. Perhaps there will be a
Christmas release of VOS? :-)

Reed, anything you can think of that would hold back a new release, or do
you think we're good to go? A few weeks of testing and documentation and
then go?
