Re: [libreoffice-website] Migrate ooo-*-FDO mailing lists (and merge them with go-oo)
While at it... we also have some (?) ODFToolkit ml. And the old stuff is at apache... I have no clue if we can trust apache enough... I found some OpenOffice.org mailing lists which got lost in the transition to Apache... sadly (e.g. base user and base devel). So at least for the current ODFtoolkit should get imported... [libreoffice-website] Nabble Shutdown...
Hey everybody, officially nabble is open source since ~2 years [0], although I cannot find the sources any longer. :-( Two months ago the mail dev announced that he will close most nabble forums if he doesn't find way to generate a bit more money.[1] As the software itself is rotten old: we should start evaluating to use some new software as a drop-in replacement. Any ideas for such a similar software? [libreoffice-website] Migrate ooo-*-FDO mailing lists (and merge them with go-oo)
Hi all, because of a request at the dev-mailing list I got again into the archeology of our precessors go-oo and ooo-build. We are already slowly migrating existing mailinglists "leftovers" from freedesktop (fdo) to our TDF internal infrastructure. Hence, we should also migrate the old ooo-build mailing lists ( ooo-build, ooo-build-announce, ooo-build-bugs, ooo-build-commit) e.g.: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/ooo-build/ As they are only for historical interest we should migrate them and make them read-only. As the stuff was moved to FDO in June 2009 (see announcement at https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/ooo-build/2009-June/01.html ) the historic archive was missed to moved and the archives at archive.org is sadly not complete not stable (e.g. if a new domain-owner puts a robot.txt removing the right to index, all old archives will not be visible in future). For the old archives / what is missed, you can get some hints at https://web.archive.org/web/20100501013120/http://lists.go-oo.org:80/pipermail/dev-go-oo.org/ Thorsten still have in his archive the old mails which should get merged into the migrated read-only archive. Any opinions or objects? Best Regards, Dennis Roczek PS: I'm checking other resources right now, if we should move / copy other mailing list archives or resources. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: website+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy
[libreoffice-website] [Telegram] Deleting (automated) old messages
Hey everybody, I'm subscribed in some Telegram-group channels with many subscribes, some channels with very privacy orientated (Android alternative FLOSS apps, many against "gapps", etc). In some of these channels there was added TGClean-bot for removing after one incident. The incident was that some person joined and automatically recorded a full log (so going back in history as much as possible) and analyzing the chat. So they installed a that bot which has the admin bit and goes back in history and regularily removes everything from the chat and reports that with a message like that: - - - TGCLEAN REPORT - - - Finished group purge at: 1586663325.5289502 Messages deleted: 18 Userbot sauce at: https://github.com/FriendlyNeighborhoodShane/TGClean I do find this very useful for preventing tracking. [libreoffice-website] ASKBot German UI problematic
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Hi everybody, I have a problem with the "notifications" page at Askbot. At the english page I can mark new comments in "watched" pages and mark them either as read or delete these. At the German page this is not possible as the tabs "Vote" and "Account" are moved to the next line overlaying the "mark seen" and "delete" links . e.g. in my case the page is at https://ask.libreoffice.org/de/users/31593/dennis-r/?sort=inbox If you have a askbot account already, then you simply can see your notifications if you switch the language part in the url to "de". There are still some outstanding issues: * RSS feeds (will be fixed "later" by me) * OpenStreetMaps (will be fixed "later" by me) * "Code Mirror" code highlight in the edit field (upstream bug report https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T153528 ) * graphiz graphs (e.g. at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Build_System , upstream bug report https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T100795 ) If you find any other issues, please report here (or to me directly) and we will try to find a solution for that. Hi Sophie, hah, that's interesting. Yes, you are right: the file upload is prevented by our spam filter. It's not about upload, it's about processing the image with a tool to create a smaller image (hence a thumb) for displaying it withing the wiki. > The bottom line though is that the images is still there as a link, but > not visible on the wiki. So if anyone needs to use it, they can still > download it -- in the size it was created. Well not if the images is not created... (as in this case) > It would be nice though if there were a fix for this. :-) Our situation: Our actual server configuration allows up to 500MB! (RAM, not HDD space). And this seems not to be enough. Somehow understandable. This is a feature: get a few independent users (in good faith, in bad faith, doesn't matter) uploading similar big images at the same time... (so a special kind of DDOS attack somehow) Guess there are more pages on that server at the moment... So here is my proposal: Let the image as it is. Upload big images if you want. If you do want to upload again big images. Do it. Additional: shrink the image locally to a smaller one (still big, but much smaller!) and upload it to an additional location (so e.G. File:Banner_big.png and File:Banner_small.png) and link each on the file description page. At the moment the whole big image is downloaded as the server is unable to shrink it. The person who needs the biggest ones are still able to download it. > Thanks for the help! Re: [libreoffice-website] Wiki - to users moving pages to new positions
Hi, (won't wonder me if i was it - I'm working many time on the tdf wiki) well, I only try to move pages out of the language namespace (IT/... FR/... etc) when I recognize that multiple languages have similar pages treating the same topic and thus should be moved to topic/it (etc) as it might be relevant for multiple languages. As It seems that more languages having problems with that approach, I won't do it any longer without asking the relevant language community. I know that pages exist on the wiki under IT/, FR/, etc.., but I can't remember if we ever documented how those language-specific subgroups are intended to be used (e.g. what's in-scope for those sections vs. what should go elsewhere). Take a look at this page, and perhaps you have some information/advice about what kind of local content would be in-scope? https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/TDF_Wiki/Multilingual Well... of course everybody is free to work on any part of the wiki, but, I would take for granted that pages under /IT or /FR or /ES, should be managed by corresponding local teams, as these pages are created by local teams (and they are not, usually, translated in other languages). That's why I keep on saying this kind of wiki is just a mess... Their was always a difference between the NLP views and the international one ;) but, however, NLPs have specific pages that should not but touched without notice and adding a multilingual template is irrelevant for several NLP pages. We won't have a per language wiki, so we should try to organize the workflow between the wiki maintainers and the NLPs parts. This is one of the pages that were moved: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/IT/Localizzazione/Processo It was moved to this other (wrong) location: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Help:Editing/it The content of the first page had nothing to do with the second page. What's the purpose of IT/Localizzazione/Processo ? It looks like there's some content there relevant to translating wiki pages, but then that section references http://www.odfauthors.org/libreoffice/italiano, which is the domain used by the Documentation Team, and I get lost around there. Yes, there are instructions for localization (general, not only wiki); we are not using odfauthors that much, we prefer to have all instructions on the wiki. The wiki handle several types of translation (l10n, documentation, marketing, sites) that are relevant only to NLPs. Maybe someone was trying to streamline the process of editing the wiki and translating/localizing wiki pages, and got confused about how that content could best be organized. If you have the time, it would be great if you could stub-in some guidelines on the Multilingual page, or toss out some ideas here on the list? :-) Sorry, I really don't have time; I'm already working on guides localization to italian; and trying to coordinate the work of other volunteers, also by writing procedures on the wiki. Anyway...my idea is to get a real multilanguage wiki, with subdomains! :) We won't have it, so the best is to try to work all together on what we have. The next time there is a modification on your pages, please come here and ask the person who has modified it what he intended to do. In any case each modification can be reverted so you won't loose your work. The wiki maintainers on their side should check the contact of the NLP responsible mentioned on it and ask him first the what and why he want to modify the pages. This is really bad news :( But I would tell you... never say never! :) Thank you anyway; I know I can revert; problem is time! :) Now this page (/Help:Editing/it) is under translation, (with the content of the corresponding english page); and I had to recreate the page IT/Localizzazione/Processo. All of the translation and localization processes are quite cryptic to me. We have top-level pages like https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Translating_LibreOffice that maybe could live under Translation/ or Language/ or something similar? yes I do agree this page should go under localization; something like: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Language/Translating_LibreOffice Yes, it should be under l10n as it's only related to UI and Help files of LibreOffice the product. The page has been created a long time ago before a more categorized wiki and at that time, we still thought that we will have a per language wiki. RE: [libreoffice-website] WIKI: how to use {{Release-plan-one-line-interval}} template
Hi Kevin, well at the moment this is a test and a proof of concept. My initial idea behind these translations and templates were that only the English page has to be updated and then all corresponding language pages get updated automatically. If you do want to see the actual status of this experiment, watch https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/User:Dennisroczek/releaseplan As you can see, not every stuff is working correctly. Feel free to improve the situation as I don't know when I will enough time to finish this experiment. RE: [libreoffice-website] Re: Wiki: Standardizing event pages + Adding structured data
Wow. That really looks promising, but when installing and configuring that extension we had to test it first in a testwiki (as already mentioned in the Redmine ticket). I believe that we should NOT start renaming all events pages until we know either how to configure the extension (for the case we want to use it after a test) and/or how the events are stored onwiki. This extension would make it much more useful for user to add new events onwiki and the calendar really looks great. Using that calendar we would be able to abandon the google calendar (+extension onwiki) or at least provide a non-google way for many users. As said: we have to test it first, but I think this extension is looking very promising and nearly like we are searching for. Good catch. Well the technical requirements should not be a problem. I used the extension at meta.wikimedia.org (the organization wiki for all Wikis by the Wikimedia Foundation, including WikiPedia) and at commons.wikimedia.org (the free image/files archive from Wikipedia). I like the idea, simply because the complete interface will get translated to the clicked language, e.g. so clicking on /ar will also translate the sidebar and so on to Arabic. I have no clue how good our existing system can be integrated. Most pages are at the correct position (the translate wiki extension uses also /languagecode sub-systems), but I believe (I don't know!) all {{OrigLang}}, {{ManualLang}} and {{Lang}} templates might have to be removed. Re: [libreoffice-website] Internal Server Error in Wiki
Well that's strange. Now it works. works means it is working, although the speed was faster a few months (?) ago... [libreoffice-website] Blog post comments
Hi, is it possible to expand the blog software so that somebody who is responding to any blog post get at least a visual notification that the comment was received and is waiting to get approved (and thus not directly visible in the blog post)? At the moment it looks a bit like mmh, did I really hit send or did something went wrong and my comment wasn't pushed to the system Regards, Dennis Roczek -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: website+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-website] Error in Wiki
Hey, I know here is somewhere a template in the MediaWiki-space on the wiki , but I wasn't able to find the template: Can somebody check and correct the code under the edit box? see: Bitte kopiere keine Webseiten, die nicht deine eigenen sind, benutze keine urheberrechtlich geschützten Werke ohne Erlaubnis des Urhebers! I get redirected to http://de.libreoffice.org/welcome/helpme.html which is a 404... so maybe only directing if there is a localized version, otherwise to the EN version...
