It looks great this time, but, maybe I could suggest the following?

 * the 3.6.5 DE name version doesn't fit on the button. I think it is
because of the use of underscores which are not broken up
automatically to fit the button limits. Maybe putting allplatforms-
would break up the text in the right place.

So the DE button would be reworded as:

 LibOx-3.6.5_Deutsch_DVD_All-Platforms-MultiLang_Extras_v1.iso

That's what we did for 4.0.2 and the upcoming 3.6.6:
LibOx-4.0.2_Deutsch_DVD_all-platforms_multilang_extras_v1.iso

http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?type=boxversion=4.0.2

 * The EN button text is now a lot better and fits the button.
** I don't think there is a need for the word plus before the
-extras -- I think the word extras is defining enough.
** I would not put a - between the Multi-Lang just in case the
word would be broken up at the hyphen, I would just write MultiLang_.
** I also like the DE LibOx but, hey, that is just me, I just think
it is a very cool marketing-type word, however it would lengthen the
EN name and maybe it would no longer fit well on the button.

No, the filename would break at All- then and make the first line way
shorter but adding a date would probably not match any more. Of course
LibOx would be nice and +1 to all suggestions.

As I didn't upload the 366 iso yet just sort it out in the meantime. ;)

So the EN text would be reworded as:

 LO-3.6.5_English-NA-DVD_All-Platforms_MultiLang_Extras_v1.iso

or LibOx-3.6.6_English-NA-DVD_All-Platforms_MultiLang_Extras_v1 :-)

match the dvd downloads

if(strlen($target)  180)   was 150  (line 11)

if(substr_count($target,/)  6)   was 7  (line 14)

The torrent and info parts of the green button goes where you expect

anymore. Shuffler works but doesn't find all images.

Is there a reason why the images were deleted? Is anyone working on
updating of trimming the photoshuffler images?

Not that I would know. Only a small group has access to the donation
pages, but the shuffler pics are usually located in a folder with public
access for all NL teams.

So maybe no pics were deleted but just moved somewhere else, possibly by
someone unaware of moving shuffler pics, the filenames unfortunately
don't imply this.
They could also have been inserted from another more (lang-)restricted
folder and are not displayed therefore.

Actually I'm not aware of a possibility of tracking deleted or moved
files in assets.
CCing Christian on this topic.

In case it is necessary to try to recover the files we might search the

Ok, thanks for the news :)

Your subsite is setup, login at https://sid.libreoffice.org/admin/ with
 subsite admin permissions.
Two more roles are available for further team members, publisher and
 author with more restrictive permissions.

You've also got author perms at the main site, so you may browse the
backend of the international pages and maybe grab some code here and
there. A tiny dropdown on top of the admin panel allows to switch subsites.
(Watch the language dropdown at the left column when switching and reset
 it to yours if necessary.)

Tab Files Images: prepared a folder 'sidama' in Uploads, where you may
upload and store files up to 32M (php limit). We will upload bigger
 stuff for you in case.

Brief intros to silverstripe handling are available at the 'Help' tab of
the admin-panel and more information about styles, colorbox,
 photoshuffler at http://website.libreoffice.org.

We do not use the built in translation feature of silverstripe (except
for the donation pages) so it looks easiest to me just to grab the
source code of pages from the main site, translate it and paste it into
 new pages at your subsite.

For most pages the page-type 'Page' will do, others like widget- or
download-page are quite self explaining once you know they are there.
Page type may also be changed later on.

Please stay to the basic structure like the main site to make it easy
for visitors. As mentioned above, you may take a closer look at the
respective page configurations of the international pages in english.

Ask your questions here at the website list, there are always
 experienced helpers around.

You may login to the CMS now at https://ar.libreoffice.org/admin/

As the former team seems to have dissolved you got publisher permissions
for your pages. After saving your changes you may preview the page
(links at the bottom) before you publish.

Brief introductions to Silverstripe handling are available at the 'Help'
tab on the admin-panel and some more information at
http://website.libreoffice.org.
There are more tutorials online in case you're totally unfamiliar with
content management systems.

Hmmm, perhaps you cannot see the 3.5 GB (Torrent, info) below the EN
button? It's white text on white background.

I do, see screenshot (Firefox a.o.) but font + default font size also
count in here.
http://epas.at/content/scr.png

Is there a way to allow for a larger (not longer) button on the DVD
box web page? I think the LibOx sets of DVD's need to keep a good
descriptive name for our users. This avoids our users from downloading
the wrong language DVD which was fixed by adding more descriptive names.

The link [1] displays the DownloadSimplePage, so the button is here
https://www.libreoffice.org/themes/libo/images/download-button.png
and may be modified certainly.

Current template doesn't easily allow to use a second button as
background-image for the downloads list once it displays iso files
instead of installers.
We just display different names on top of the buttons by adding
?type=box to the /download url. So making them higher would result in
higher buttons for Main Installer + Help also atm.

Styles are part of the template and it might as well be possible to
enter an IF rule there, but I'm not sure about syntax and validity, some
quick trials with firebug didn't work. Pointers?

I didn't look for the button source now but if you want to give it a try
just enhance it the way you imagine and we exchange the pics then and
look forward to opinions.

Alternative could be a little more verbose description of the DVDs
displayed at the same paragraph where it states You need to download
and install these files in order: without type=box, and combined with
shorter link titles upon the buttons.

When I remember well we also had the filenames for LO installers upon
similar buttons in earlier days and switched to readable expressions
evolutionary. ;)

This happenson some systems. My Ubuntu 12.04/MATE system using
Firefox, shows the DE .iso name go beyond the green button, for
 http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?type=boxversion=3.6.5
I have been shown a screen clip for a Unity desktop where the font
size is so tall that the Torrent and Info text has been pushed off
 thebottom of the green button.

By change is there a CSS definition for the text font/size for the
button font, or is it up to the user's browser to choose it, like it
seem to be for the Unity/Firefox system.

Yes, the page template has styles overriding parts of the theme's
stylesheets.

Convenient ways to check respective styles in a browser window are e.g.
the Firebug addon for Firefox or the context menu 'Inspect Element' in
Chrome.

Downloads container's source would look like

div class=Downloads
div class=DownloadsLeft
ul
li
h2
a class=piwik_download
href=http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/box/3.6.5/LibOx-3.6.5_Deutsch_DVD_allplatforms_multilang_extras_v1.iso;LibOx-3.6.5_Deutsch_DVD_allplatforms_multilang_extras_v1.iso/a
/h2
4.2 GB (
a class=piwik_download title=Download the files using
BitTorrent
href=http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/box/3.6.5/LibOx-3.6.5_Deutsch_DVD_allplatforms_multilang_extras_v1.iso.torrent;Torrent/a
,
a title=See the md5sum and list of download mirrors for the
file
href=http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/box/3.6.5/LibOx-3.6.5_Deutsch_DVD_allplatforms_multilang_extras_v1.iso.mirrorlist;Info/a
)
/li
li
/ul
/div
div class=DownloadsRight
/div

So the filenames are displayed as h2.

I don't want to paste more code here, however you may view the source
files here

Chrome and Firefox show the text in different sizes.

Not on my machine actually for it will be also up to the fonts installed
(identical settings given).
In my case our style
body {font: 87.5%sans-serif;}li h2 {font-size: 1.4em; }
is displayed with Arial which is a narrow font and might not be
available on Ubuntu.

Anyways, we are looking for a solution, aren't we?

Interestingly if you compare the main downloads with dvd downloads the
latter 'h2' seems to be bigger than the first which wouldn't look better
if it was smaller. Admittingly no clue atm ... anybody else?

How hard would it be to define specifically to be, say font-size:
10pt;instead of something that relies on what the browser/system has
 set for the h2 size?

Not hard but rather an usability issue and not really up to date
webstandard imho.

Size fits well for the main downloads, so my feeling is rather to
 - find out why h2 for dvds displays different from h2 for main installers
 - and/or improve description / link title for dvds as mentioned earlier
in this thread
 - and/or improve the button to leave more space to different fonts ameitt

For perfectionism we could also include the 'proper' fonts we want to
distribute in our theme to make sure they get displayed on machines
where they are not installed. And they should display correctly
everywhere.
Suggestions are welcome.

I know some people who play with the browser defaults and then they
complain that the sites look wrong to them.

Yup, one cannot help everybody ;) but we can do our best (TM R.R.)

I don't think the fix you suggested would work. You suggested for
example that there be a better description in the text above the
buttons. However, the text is generic and is worded to fit the direct
download of LibreOffice v.x.x.x.x and not the DVD's.

The mentioned generic text is displayed on if Type != box and != src,
another one could be displayed on Type == box.

See
https://github.com/tdf/cms-code/blob/master/mysite/templates/Layout/DownloadSimplePage.ss

I think the simplest fix would be to shorten the DVD title to a
 reasonable length.

+1

 Erich:
Is there a way for you to tell us a number of allowable characters
that would fit before it spills out of the button? If I counted right,
the EN DVD title is 67 characters long. Perhaps keeping it to 45
characters long would allow enough just in case spaces just in case
some users did mod their browsers.

Arial or Verdana or ...? 14, 15 or 16pt? ;) what's your estimated
average browser setting around?

No seriously, I'd like to think away from *displaying* these filenames.

Why not use a generic text telling users that they are up to download
multi-language plus extras DVDs providing either en or de ui language
and just name the links upon the buttons DVD Deutsch and DVD English ?
All other information could eventually be off the buttons.

@ Christian: is there a way to discriminate the DownloadsInstallType for
DVD isos by language, filename, whatever?

Cheers

Re: [libreoffice-website] Check for upcoming 4.0 New Features and Fixes -- help with Chrome

The 4.0 New Features and Fixes is going live next week and for the
past 3-4 releases we have been ignoring the fact that our pages are
not rendered the same under Chrome.

The problem is a known problem with Chrome with rendering sides in a
Table. So, for example if you go to our soon to be released page
 [https://www.libreoffice.org/download/4-0-new-features-and-fixes] and
view it in FireFox and compare it with Chrome you will see that the
sides in Chrome do not render correctly.

I have tested the page on WinIE, FF, Chrome, Opera. All of the
Chrome-type browsers behave the same way.

Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this?

What exactly do you want to achieve?

Imho only Chrome and Safari display a white collapsed border correctly:
table border=1 style=width: 100%; border: 1px solid #ff;
(taken quickly by Firebug)

and
.typography table {
border-collapse: collapse;

but I see a black borders between cells in Mozilla, IE, Opera.

It already helps to delete one of the two border style attributes, the
first one calls the black lines. (Firebug helps :)

Suggesting valign=top and some padding for the cells.

I have the borders showing only the bottom line on each row and this
is correctly drawn on FireFox, Chrome does not draw these and gives a
 blank.

No, white not blank.

table style=width: 100%; *border*: 1px solid #ff; *border*=1

let me translate

style=border: 1px solid #ff;  == a 1px solid white border
(invisble with a white background)

border=1  ==  default border, usually black (#00), 1px solid

Looks like two commands for the same attribute are confusing browsers.

Just for reference, the correct look that I want to achieve is the one
in FF and IE. Not sure why it is not showing the same in Chrome.

My guess would be, Chrome ignores the old-fashioned border=1 tag for
CSS2+ was going for style=...

The table on top is showing a default border=1 without an extra white
border attribute.

table border=1 style=width: 100%; background-color: #ccf4c6;

In case you want the white border around the table you might still set
border-bottom/right for respective cells in black to try to convince Chrome.

 Hi Erich/all,

If there is a todo list, I am happy to share my webdev/php skils and make
some pull requests for the code.

Few months ago I cloned repos from tdf@GitHub and tried to migrate
 site/theme to SilverStripe 3.

I remember some modules where not ready so I got bored and discarded my
code. But I am ready to try again, a step at a time. It may make sense to
do migration and theme update in one step if marketing/design have some
 mockups ready.

We could do this on a staging site, after the 4.0 release...

Very welcome indeed :) would be a proper timing.

You pointed it out already - modules stay behind, at least forum seems

Some investigation needed here for the rest ...

Afaik Christian Lohmaier also integrated some modules.
Looking forward to his comments,

I hope I did not mess up row 15:

 $lang['sv_SE']['Navigation']['TOTOP'] ='? till toppen';

the way our website interacts with git is unfortunately one of the
major obstacles for me, being totally undocumented.

Erich, do you have more insight here, where to change what in git and
 where to push/pull?

Ok, here is my afaik insight:

Either you have a local checkout of the repository or use the
webinterface to apply changes directly to the respective files. wsadmin
may also use git bash at kermit but I didn't do that yet.

Following this link
https://github.com/tdf/cms-code/blob/master/mysite/lang/sv_SE.php
you get a view of the file and an 'Edit' button right on top.
So you may apply changes there, comment and commit in one instance.
Git will write your changes into the History next to Edit.

People who lack permissions to do so may send a pull-request email via
git once they committed a patch.

Usually changes find their way into git after they have proven to work,
and not all the files are in git like e.g. _config ;)

Translations of the DownloadSimplePage don't need to prove anything, so
it looks like Rimas just committed all the changes he was aware of.

Except the donate pages there are no other content translations
available via lang_files afaik.
I think you've applied all translations there manually that time, but I
don't even know where. Do not see them in git either.

Ohter locations, except https://github.com/tdf/cms-themes maybe, are of
lesser public interest imo, concerning cms functionality mainly.

unfortunately, I have no clue how Pootle works. ;-)
If you can send me the translations directly, I'm happy to incorporate

Well, the point I see here is that the impression persists, a Pootle
translation of the website content would get synced automatically with
the Silverstripe CMS by some magic. Actually I'm not sure where this
impression arises, maybe it's just because of the mere presence at
Pootle, but we've already seen quite some efforts by different
translators remarked on this list which were rather useless. So it seems
as if people would expect it to happen that way.

I'd really like to make this clear instead of looking at wasted ressources.

- is there an easy way to put up a warning in concern at Pootle? (I've
no account there) And/or at the Wiki?

- is there a possibility to fetch the data automatically for integration
at least in theory? If this is no 'project' I might not be aware of, why
do we show the content at Pootle at all?

- are there any obstacles to translate some text directly at the CMS as
we do ever since, I'm not aware of? Not talking about current load
related problems here though.

Your feedback is kindly appreciated, thanks. :)

Yes it certainly would have advantages, but then all the subsites would

This idea was given up in the very early days of using this CMS in

A few technical questions to begin with: what is your plan for these 4.0
 specific pages?
Do you plan to integrate them in your CMS (silverstripe)? If so, would
that be fine for you if we provide you with plain HTML/JS/CSS files?
Or do you plan to have a redirection to a place with plain PHP ? (I was
considering for instance that it would be possible to have a
conditionnal, referer|cookie based redirection from www.libreoffice.org
 to v4.libreoffice.org )

Thinking of all the subsite maintainers wishing to provide localized
versions of these pages, I'd think they have to stay manageable and
editable by Silverstripe.

Probably we'd need another Download-PageType or kind of a fusion of
these two types we have now.
Design could be tweaked by prepping an existing theme for now imo.

https://github.com/tdf has all the files.

At VM13 is a sandbox available with the current install for testing.

But ;) a temporary redirect would also harm nobody ... it doesn't save
us from integrating it later though.

Finally I'm not saying we have to stick with Silverstripe on a long run,
but regarding $subject this is what I'd prefer.

We do not use the built in translation feature of silverstripe (except
for the donation pages) so it looks easiest to me just to grab the

new pages at your subsite.

For most pages the page-type 'Page' will do, others like widget- or

AFAIK there's no automatic process but I might be wrong, you could ask
at the l10n list?

I would download e.g. en_US.php and then replace the strings and rename
the file, using git or an editor able to save as utf-8 (no BOM).

with subsite admin permissions.
Two more roles are available for further team members, publisher and author.

Please, explain, how can I make that?

We do not use the built in translation feature of silverstripe (except
for the donation pages) so it looks easiest to me just to grab the
source code of pages from other sites, translate it and paste it into
new pages at your subsite.

Please build the basic structure like the main site to make it easy for
visitors. You got author permissions for the main site too, so you may
take a closer look at the respective page configurations.

For most pages the page-type 'Page' will do, others like widget- or
download-page are quite self explaining once you know they are there.
Page type may also be changed later on.

Brief intros to silverstripe handling are available at the 'Help' tab on
the admin-panel and more information at http://website.libreoffice.org.

Ask your questions here at the website list, there are always
experienced helpers around.

We've discussed this topic some time ago but didn't go for it for the
reason that there are rarely 'translations' of the main site available,
but mainly 'some' localized content which occasionally would not show
the visitor all the desired information.

A dropdown would give the impression of one could expect translations
which would be disappointed quite often.

Subsites are created as any team wishes and sometimes the 'team' is just
one person maintaining it from time to time.
In case you see a more inspired solution to the international sites list
just don't hesitate to come up with ;)

Yes, button is missing but it's not up to permissions.
Images will insert once you type e.g. an 'alt' text and press [enter].

Thank you for pointing to the right direction. Actually I notice that SS
has no uniform usability since links have an insert button. Thus, my
 misunderstanding...

Silverstripe 3.4.5 (libreofficebox.org) still shows a button for this
purpose.

At libreoffice.org no version number is available at time, but I know
that Christian did some updates. (I'm a lot slower (and older)) ;)

 so good.

Okay so I have done this, can you unlock author permissions or is there
something I need to do before that?

Like? :)

Your login https://www.libreoffice.org/admin/

The Help tab shows some general infos on the use of Silverstripe, some
extras are here http://website.libreoffice.org

Once your page is ready you'll have to request publishing until it seems
you know what you´re doing. ;) (= author permissions)

Publishers will get your request by workflow email and listed at the

not exist at all. If they would at least
point to the English site we wouldn't have the 404 - Page not found,
which is extra annoying for useful resources. ;-)

Until recently the script seemed to work on the 3.4 series while the 3.5
had the current behavior. With worked I mean
it got the Swedish page for System requirements that was tagged with the
 keyword meta-tag dl.

Is the script for the page available somewhere? maybe I can spot something.

Christian is right. Google Analytics is a serious problem, because of
exporting European data to third-party US providers, and there have even
been, IIRC, cease and desist letters to those still doing so. Germany
has rather strict data protection laws, but I guess the situation is
 rather similar inside Europe.

Getting worse too in Austria, an ever since existing backlink to a
customer's office at a public bath was denied shortly by the Viennese
municipality for the reason we're using an illegal tool to enhance
search engine results which was identified as Analytics after hours of
telephone calls with the webfuzzing paper-shufflers in concern.

More to the point it's best practice meanwhile to put up a disclaimer
telling visitors to leave the page in case they do not want to share
their data via GA. The extensions Drew mentioned don't seem to be
popular, at least amongst people I know.

I'd rather think it is less about violating laws but the strange image
which is commonly spread already and probably leading to weird opinions
like the one above.
