OK, I hope they're going to be successful. Buona fortuna, Torino! Bon travail! I've done some proofreading and only corrected some minor errors. In my opinion, your translation is enough in accordance with the original German text. Patrick ___ Wikimediach-l mailing list Wikimediach-l@Wikipedia.org http://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediach-l
Re: [Wikimediach-l] foundation assembly?
You're right. In such a small country like Switzerland it shouldn't be problematic to gather people from every corner in any place for a meeting. It would be a serious problem in Germany, Italy or France for example. So I would say,Zurich is definitely central enough for everybody. [Wikimediach-l] foundation assembly?
Hi all! I'd like to ask Michael or Nando whether they thought aboutto procede to the foundation of our chapter. The bylaws are getting fixed now, we're establishing a mail address, technical support is clear and the Wikipedia Day is approaching. Back in January, we considered the foundation somewhen in February or March. Now that we're already in the second half of March, it seems still unclear when this is going to happen. I would favour a meeting in Zurich where we already spent a calm Sunday afternoon in November. The foundation assembly would (hopefully) alsobea welcome opportunity to meet people who couldn'tattend last time (Ilario, Gatto Nero, Frédéric, Thierry Pool, Christian Seidl, Irmgard etc.) or who didn't participate onthisML(Voyager, Ilja, Javier). Fine, it seems that we're soonable topost the bylaws in all 5 languages! Hopefully, this means the beginning of areally plurilingual association that we're aiming to become. Article 1 says"The association will be named "Wikimedia CH" Verein zur FörderungFreien Wissens (Wikimedia CH Association for the advancement of freeknowledge)".What is the _formal_ name ? It it only "Wikimedia CH" (as indicated bythe quotes), and which would look like the correct name to me (languageneutral) ? In this case, the following text is descriptive and we shouldprobably put the English version first.Related question: any objection if I replace all occurences of "Verein"by "Association" in the text ? There is no point having a German word inthe text when there is a corresponding English word. Frederic, if you need some help i the translation you can ask to me.I should be ok, starting from the English version, but it would be goodto have someone to compare the French and German versions afterwards tolook for inconsistencies. I could do that as soon as you have finished your translation. RE: [Wikimediach-l] 17. Juni 2006: Wikipedia-Tag?
hi ! I tended more to August but this date works for me as well. It seems that most now agree on June 17th as date for the WP Day. And Zurich is the place to stage it!! What an ambitious goal ¨!! Concerning presentations: Just yesterday, I met Marcus M.Dapp, a researcher at ETH and expertinOS, at apresentation aboutfree softwarein Fribourg and he showed interest in participating at the WP Day. Robin might already know him. He could eventually hold a presentation about the political and social aspect of digital context that is made available for free to everybody.
