 Stop thinking it may not be good enough!
 You should really place it into the SVN. There it will be better
 supported and at least won't be at the mercy of your free hosting.
 You can get commit access yourself, or get soeone with access to
commit
 it (open a bug, grab some volunteer on irc...)

 Ok, thanks for the support. Maybe I'll try a bit later (a new version
of extension is a half-way but now I have too much of other work to
finish new features).

 Tomasz, the amount of dump power that you managed to activate is
 impressive.
 136 dumps yesterday, today already 110 :-) Out of 760 total.
 Of course there are small en large dumps, but this is very encouraging.

 Yes, thank you Tomasz for your attention to this. The commonswiki process
 looks like it *might* be dead, by the way.

 Don't think so as I actively see it being updated. It's currently set to
 to finish it's second to last step on 2009-05-06 02:53:21.

 No one touch anything while its still going ;)

Commons finished just fine along with every single one of the other
small mid size wiki's waiting to be picked up. Now were just left with
the big sized wiki's to finish.

This is probably a stupid question (because it depends on umpteen different
variables), but would the remaining big sized wiki's finish any faster if
you stopped the dump processes for the smaller wikis that have already had a
dump complete within the past week and are now starting on their second
rounds?

[Wikitech-l] Wiki editor wysiwyg

2009-05-07 Thread apri a.vd.wiel
Hello to all,

I am developing Apri wiki editor and at this moment have a what I call
a working prototype which I want to share with you.
Still a lot of work to do but I like the results so far ;-).
Functionality is very basic but shows enough to give you an impression.
UI is not what the end result will look like but I'm still looking for
the right design in combination with functionality.

Please see http://ria.apri.nl/mediawiki-1.14.0/index.php/Main_Page
Read the page.
Click the edit button and see what happens.

[Wikitech-l] Rollback feature

2009-05-07 Thread Strainu
Hi,

Is the rollback feature available to sysops MEANT to remove all the
consecutive contributions of a certain user? Shouldn't it erase just the
latest change?

Here is an example:
http://ro.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Facultatea_de_Mecanic%C4%83_a_Universit%C4%83%C5%A3ii_%E2%80%9EPolitehnica%E2%80%9D_din_Timi%C5%9Foaraaction=history(the
changes marked with Revenire
la ultima modificare... are made using this feature). You can see that it
reverted 2 or 3 versions back.

Thanks,

Re: [Wikitech-l] Rollback feature

2009-05-07 Thread Mark (Markie)
What you described is the difference between rollback and undo. This is why
it is more powerful and therefore only available to users with the
permission (normally sysop and above).

[Wikitech-l] request for feedback on new-upload branch

2009-05-07 Thread Michael Dale
The new-upload branch includes a good set of new features is available
here:
http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/branches/new-upload/phase3/

Major Additions:

* action=upload added to the api

* Supports New upload Interfaces (dependent on mv_embed / jQuery libs )
** supports upload over http with reporting progress to user.
** support for chunks upload with progress indicators and client side
transcoding for videos (chunks for other large flies types almost
there) (dependent on the firefogg extension)
** supports upload-api error msg lookup and report back.

To test the new upload /interfaces/ you need the latest copy of mv_embed
/ add_media_wizard.js You can get by checking out:
http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/MetavidWiki/skins/
(add then adding something like the following to localSettings.php :

$wgExtensionFunctions[] = 'addMediaWizard';
function addMediaWizard(){
global $wgOut;
$utime = time();
$wgOut-addScript( script type=\{$wgJsMimeType}\
src=\http://localhost/{path_to_skins_dir}/add_media_wizard.js?urid={$utime}\;/script

);
}

Comments or references to new bugs can be reported to the following bug
18563 which is tracking its inclusion.

== Things already on the TOOD list ==
* Deprecate upload.js (destination checks, filename checks etc) in favor
of the jQuery / mv_embed style upload interface. (this is dependent on
getting the script-loader branch into the trunk bug 18464 (along with
base mv_embed / jQuery libs) ) will have a separate email with call for
feedback on that branch shortly once I finish up the css style sheet
grouping and mv_embed lib merging.

--mv_embed upload interfaces--
* Support pass though mode for firefogg (passthough mode only in
development branches of firefogg ... should be released soon)
* Support remote iframe driver ( for uploading to commons with progress
indicators while editing an article on another site (like wikipedia) )
(will be an upload tab in the add_media_wizard)

peace,
michael

2009-05-07 Thread apri a.vd.wiel
As I mentioned this is a prototype.
UI has to be redesigned but what you see (better: what you will see)
at the left are the properties of the tags/text which are focused.
This will be the place to fill in the url property of the link tag.

At the right you will find the actions you can do on the selection in
the text.

 I have flash player installed, and I didn't understand what to do.
 I saw a few boxes to the left and right, but nothing in them
 made sense. I pressed add a link, but I didn't see any way to
 control the target of the link or what the link text says.
