Upgraded to r14499. Still have the problem with Screen Options on Menu
Admin page disappearing.

If I check all the boxes on the Screen Options and then click Save Menu,
the checkmarks disappear from the Screen Options I have just checked.

The Pages, Custom Links, Categories and one custom taxonomy are the
only Screen Options which do not disappear.
The 'bug' was introduced between r14470 and r14472.

Andrew,

If it helps, I am also running another testing site with a previous version

Behavior works as expect on r14470.

So the screen options behavior changed between r14470 and r14472.

[wp-testers] Beta 2 - Menu Formating and Child/Sub Menu Items

2010-05-07 Thread Keith DeSantis
Hi,

I hope I'm following the correct process to discuss/report a bug. (First
time reporting).

After installing the latest beta 2 I am unable to drag menu items on top of
one another to create sub menu items. (No way to add sub menu
items currently with the new menu builder).

In addition I am having major formatting issues in IE 7 (XP) on the menu
admin page (/wp-admin/nav-menus.php). The formating was fine in Safari,
firefox or IE 8 but the sub menu items were not working still. See attached
screen shots from IE 7.

Is this a known issue?

Re: [wp-testers] 2 Categories check boxes listed in Screen options on the Menus page.

2010-05-07 Thread Kirk M
Good question. Unfortunately, there's no custom types and no reason that
menus should be showing 2 'Categories' in the Screen options for the
Menus page. If I check both check boxes it simply adds a second
'Categories' section to the sidebar of the Menus page.

I don't get this either nor do I have a clue of where to look for this
in the DB. All error logs are clean so no clue there either. This is an
old blog I had so maybe it's time to start from scratch.

[wp-testers] WP 3.0x Pagination problem

2010-05-07 Thread Cesar Aracena
Hi everybody,

I just subscribed to the list. Glad to be here.

I'm experiencing a problem with pagination since beta1. It has the same
problem in beta2 and now it's partially solved in the nigh build. Simply
put, pagination don't work. I'm using pretty permalinks
(/%category%/%postname%/) and full text in feeds (in case it matters). In
both beta 1 and 2 it simply doesn't work. Links show /2/ at the end (for
page 2) like before but once clicked, the browser loads the same page 1
without the /2/ at the end.

Example of post:
http://localhost/gtx03/reviews/hardware/review-evga-gtx-480-hc-ftw/http://caracena.com/gtx03/reviews/hardware/review-evga-gtx-480-hc-ftw/
Example of second page:
http://localhost/gtx03/reviews/hardware/review-evga-gtx-480-hc-ftw/http://caracena.com/gtx03/reviews/hardware/review-evga-gtx-480-hc-ftw/
2/

Once the link to the second page is clicked, I'm taken to the first page
again (first link).

In the night build I was able to pull the 2nd page using the same link
structure but only with the default Twenty Ten theme. Once I change the
theme (to a Wootheme or any other), I add the ?php wp_link_pages( array(
'before' = 'div class=page-link' . __( 'Pages:', 'twentyten' ), 'after'
= '/div' ) ); ? (exactly like the Twenty Ten theme) pagination code but
WP keeps getting the 1st page for me.

I think this was important to tell because I haven't read any follow ups on
this matter. Sorry if it's being discussed and I missed it.

Cheers,

Hi Philip.

Nothing special. Fresh install add Spectrum theme from Whootheme and error
occurs. Also, I can't make it work again even with the default theme even if
I uninstall the Spectrum theme.

On a side note, I just tested it on another server using the same WAMP
configuration (only changes are versions) and it works well what makes me
think that is not a problem of WP but also not a problem of my server... I
think there can be some sort of unstabilty in the WP pagination code that
makes it work only in perfect server conditions which is not the case of
many hosting services.

Only differences of both servers I used is that one (where pagination
doesn't work propperly) is in another computer on my LAN running PHP 5.3.1
and the second server (where it works) is on my machine running PHP 5.3.0.
Could it be a problem of WP + PHP 5.3.1?

If you can check inside the index.php of the wootheme and look how they do
the loop, whether its the provided one on the normal page load or they
remake it, that would be great. I know from experience that remade loops
will always have a problem with pagination if not done right. For example
the *only* way remade loops will work with pagination *if* you have multiple
loops on the same page is to make the non-main loops use a new WP_Query so
if wootheme is doing multiple loops they probably should be save/restoring
the original $wp_query/$post around any alternative loops it does. I've
seen this on a few multimedia embedded themes that have more then one loop
generated once too often.

Have you tried with a different theme and all plugins turned off?

Re: [wp-testers] WP 3.0x Pagination problem

2010-05-07 Thread Cesar Aracena
Yes, it handles the loop in a strange way (in all their themes) but it
worked in WP 2.9x without any problems. I'm now experiencing the same
problem stated in my original post in my local machine so it has nothing to
do with the PHP version.

What I just did to test everything is:

- Fresh install WP 2.9.2
- Install Whootheme's Healdlines theme
- Create 1 multipage article from scratch and pagination works
- Install Multi-page Toolkit Plugin and pagination works

Then:

- Fresh install WP 3.0 night build
- Install same theme
- Create 1 multipage article from scratch and pagination doesn't work
- Install Multi-page Toolkit Plugin and pagination still doesn't work

In conclusion: Same steps from fresh install on both versions - old works
and new doesn't.

Everything indicates something has changed in the WP core in the way it
treats pagination and I can't find it... Is there a developer's changelog
of some sort I haven't found? I'm pretty sure that it has to be something
very easy to fix.

In addition I am having major formatting issues in IE 7 (XP) on the menu
admin page (/wp-admin/nav-menus.php). The formating was fine in Safari,
firefox or IE 8 but the sub menu items were not working still. See attached
 screen shots from IE 7.

 Is this a known issue?

 Thanks

We'd need to see the theme to see what their strange way is. It may not
 be
something that should be expected to work. Or, it may honestly be a bug.
You're welcome to send the theme to me so it can be evaluate (it's GPL, and

We recently crossed a milestone of 3000 changes to WordPress since 2.9.
It'll be a lot easier to track down the problem from the source of the
problem, versus trying to determine what code change might have done it.

[wp-testers] Wordpress 3.0 Beta 2 - Permalinks forced index.php

2010-05-07 Thread Scott Evans
Hi All
My first post here so please let me know if you need anything more. I
have downloaded the Beta 2 and been testing some of the features. When
trying to setup permalinks in this version it is forcing me to have
index.php prefix the URL:

/index.php/%category%/%postname%/

I am using this on the same server where I have permalinks working
correctly without index.php. I believe this has something to do with
an error I am seeing when testing the MU features in 3.0 too. When
visiting the tools-network page, I see this message:

Warning! It looks like the Apache mod_rewrite module is not installed.

If mod_rewrite is disabled, ask your administrator to enable that
module, or look at the Apache documentation or elsewhere for help
setting it up.

I believe WordPress is incorrectly detecting my server setup.
mod_rewrite is enabled and working on all my other sites on the same
server.

Would be interested to see if there are any tips for testing/fixingthis.

Re: [wp-testers] Wordpress 3.0 Beta 2 - Permalinks forced index.php

2010-05-07 Thread Dion Hulse (dd32)
This is a known bug, There is a trac ticket for this, I've got a
half-finished patch for it, But havnt had the time to finalise it.

Ok, The part that you cant remove index.php is part of the bug, The fact its
not detecting mod_rewrite is a seperate issue which triggers the first.

What are the details of your server setup?

The sites that are working, are they 3.0 or 2.9?

Re: [wp-testers] Wordpress 3.0 Beta 2 - Permalinks forced index.php

2010-05-07 Thread Scott Evans
The sites that are working are all 2.9.x. The server details are:

PHP Version 5.2.12
MySQL 5.1.43
Linux
Modules:

ore mod_authn_file mod_authn_default mod_authz_host
mod_authz_groupfile mod_authz_user mod_authz_default mod_auth_basic
mod_include mod_filter mod_deflate mod_log_config mod_logio mod_env
mod_headers mod_unique_id mod_setenvif mod_version mod_proxy
mod_proxy_connect mod_proxy_ftp mod_proxy_http mod_proxy_scgi
mod_proxy_ajp mod_proxy_balancer mod_ssl prefork http_core mod_mime
mod_dav mod_status mod_autoindex mod_asis mod_suexec mod_cgi
mod_dav_fs mod_dav_lock mod_negotiation mod_dir mod_actions
mod_userdir mod_alias mod_rewrite mod_so mod_security2 mod_php5

Adding: add_filter('got_rewrite', '__return_true');

Allows me to edit the index.php and remove it in permalink settings
and it has interestingly changed the error colour in tools-network
from red to yellow. The error remains but I am confident it will work
regardless (will test soon).

I would imagine my host setup is fairly standard. I have been unable
to confirm fastcgi so far - I will also look into this.

Many thanks

Scott

This is likely because you are running PHP as fastcgi on your server.
WordPress cannot reliably detect mod_rewrite in such configurations.

In such cases I use the following code in a custom plugin:

 add_filter('got_rewrite', '__return_true');
