Re: Bastion Flex, Starring Flava Flav, Sly Stallone, and Most Particularly H. P. Lovecraft
This is a curious piece Allen, and reminds me of the odd aesthetic inversions of Roussel's plays. For example the 'why' of selecting Alfred Magdalou's 'ouvre sans pretensions' for its having been written on a picnic menu with an experimental pigment. and then to snuggle that kind of thing up to Lovecraft's finicky-ness which is arguably illustrated by his love of Irvin S. Cobb's Fishhead. So I guess I'm reading the piece as a kind of hologram of its own 'programme' or some such thoough i didnt intend to, and am certainly off its soundtrack. finicky was the velvet monkeywrench in this case. i'll refrain from my flava flav story. - Original Message - From: Allen Bramhall [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: WRYTING-L@LISTSERV.WVU.EDU Sent: Saturday, September 16, 2006 9:41 AM Subject: Bastion Flex, Starring Flava Flav, Sly Stallone, and Most Particularly H. P. Lovecraft he striking word maintained its shape: cicada. this collectible word wrapped around the vision of an insect selected by Lovecraft to overcome the parental, pre-boiled world, stop closing out voice, and finally. finally in the previous sentence establishes a fault line, which, when ruptured, expends a monumental tsunami into ghastly orbit and forthright destruction while in witness. so people, consumed in their neighbouring water, file out, out and intrinsic. thus language at all times, curious and subject to logic, but not exactly controlled by logic, tho logic says extremity meets fulfillment, tho this can only be conjectured by a logic intuited natively or not at all: thus a sentence at its own. forests of cicada, quivering inside the effective season, then dolour of rest, extinction being possible only in selected spans of time, with resumption a cardinal proposition to derail any human thought over and above the radiant line (imagined): it seems enough to declare that statements occur naturally. witness Flava Flav. Lovecraft actually wraps around the dull finicky, and when doing so, legions upon legions, thru casements invented for the purpose, going buggy if not corrected slightly for atmospheric conditions. what the hell? muttered Flava Flav, reasonably enough. later examinations will produce enough proof of Lovecraft's positive control. whisperers in the woods of Vermont flew to the Earth on Wings of Song, granted a particularly icky song, twitchy and enough cheese to bungle the whole prop. Flava Flav can rationalize his own synthesis with some edgy proclamation derived from culture's learned choices. he calls Sylvester Stallone, who isn't so celebrated now, but star quality mixes with a tremendous impact, always, even enormous bugs from space. the call gets thru: worry me my man, is that you? come to think of it, perhaps a bottle of Moët, pounding the beach, what's the latest? dubious for sure... the reader now must make a choice if that choice has not yet been made: what story must be selected from these possible inquiries, and why bother, and is attachment congenital, and do sensible narrations savour us? and so forth. if you have read this far, tripping over everything, did you survive, or should the writer? Flava Flav Indices rank it all, and will come to conclusions.

I pretty much only know that he has an alarm clock hanging from his neck. and I wasn't exactly emulating you, but I sensed that I was following strategies similar to your own (pardon whatever misreading that indicates, I mean it respectfully). I've been reading Lovecraft, including a ratty bio by L Sprague deCamp, amazed that HPL passed thru the town I grew up in, that there's mention of his taking the same train that I take to Cambridge, and so forth. I wrote it with wtf in mind, and expect readers to read it so.
