Re: [WSG] Quick Site Check - CSS Problem?

2006-02-21 Thread David Nicol
Hi again,

Thanks for all the recent advice.

I'll modfy the CSS so that the site can better handle font re-sizing. I'm not sure how much success I'll have, though, as the current page layout does not really accommodate large font sizes.

My take on this is that layouts should be tested against suchuser-options and be made to work - within reason. The visitor inquestion may not be aware of these options at all, and messed up thelayout for no good reason - other than the often mentioned 'ignorance'.
However, some visitors may actually need some of these options.
I entirely agreee with these sentiments and I will try to improve the situation for this particular site.

Thanks again.

Regards
David

David,
It looks like they may have disabled the rendering of images
(advanced tab of Internet Options), enabled the feature to
ignore font color, font size and font family options
(Accessibility button in Internet Options).

Site looks fine on Windows XP SP2, IE6

Could it be that one of the CSS files failed to load properly for this
user - perhaps the main one - and what is left is what you get from the
normal unstyled rendering plus a couple of things in the IEMac or IE5
style sheets? Some network caching or proxy server in their Internet
access may conceivably have made the problem persist beyond a simple
refresh, I suppose.

You could try disabling your main CSS and see if the view resembles that
user's?

HTH

Cheers

Ian

Tho I haven't checked it, sounds like the user had Images disabled in
IE6.

I can (almost) replicate it. Accessibility options (ignore
colors, font styles, font sizes) ticked and text size increased
gives something very similar.

Confirmed... which indicates that the layout is not well enough prepared
