[X2Go-Dev] Bug#1265: Acknowledgement (Remote proxy closed session while negotiating the connection.)

2018-02-27 Thread Robert Dinse

I completely re-installed the OS and then it worked, so can disregard.

[X2Go-Dev] x2go Zorin OS 12.2

2018-02-24 Thread Robert Dinse

The stable release of x2goserver works on Zorin except for the xrandr
version issue (it uses version 2, Zorin wants version 3).

The nightly build earlier x2goagent cored dumped:

Feb 23 18:53:48 zorin kernel: [ 1979.107382] traps: x2goagent[2003] general
protection ip:7f52e6a66512 sp:76fae0b0 error:0 in
libc-2.23.so[7f52e69e2000+1c]

I was going to do a backtrace on the core but I had installed the stable
release again. So I re-installed the nightly build to re-create but it no
longer core dumps, still however it immediately exits (this is using mate for
the desktop and mate is working with the stable except that I have to manually
set the geometry with xrandr.

So now no core, no errors that I can find in logs, and I don't know where
to go from here. Anything you'd like me to do to gather additional
troubleshooting data, please just ask.

 The client is X2Go Client v. 4.1.1.2 (Qt - 4.8.7) on Ubuntu 17.10

If instead of Mate, I start a terminal, then type 'mate-session' into the
terminal, it will start a mate terminal on another virtual desktop which is
semi-functional (sometimes the remote desktop gets mouse / keyboard, sometimes
the local).

[X2Go-Dev] X2go on Zorin

2018-02-23 Thread Robert Dinse

The stable build of x2go presently works on Zorin except xrandr version
issues but the Nightly Builds does not. Nightly builds nxagent core dumps
when the session tries to start. Got to go now but will provide more details,
try to get a backtrace if I can, later when I get back.

I spaced, sorry, this is installed on Ubuntu 17.10 both client and
server. Also virt-manager does not work properly over x2go, using the
resize to virt option sizes to 600x800 instead of the virtual display size.

[X2Go-Dev] X2go Nightly New Bugs

2018-02-23 Thread Robert Dinse

I have nightly builds installed, in part becuase of xrandr compatibility
issues with the stable version and in part to help with the debugging process.

 Today:

After this update I have three problems:

1) The session is randomly disconnected after some idle time.
2) Attempts to resume fail with authentication complaints.
	3) The Mate background is now tiled as a bunch of 800x600 panels
instead of one large image.

only 3.5.0.* no 3.5.99.*

Follow the link to my blog (in the previous mail) and read where that pkgs
are available.

The new nx-libs 3.5.99.x / 3.6.x has not arrived in the X2Go pkg archives,
yet.

[X2Go-Dev] Bug#1089: x2go Ubuntu 16.04 and Fedora 24

2016-09-18 Thread Robert Dinse

Package: x2server
Version: 4.0.1.19-11.fc24 and 4.0.1.19-0~ubuntu16.04.1

The version of xrandr built into the x2go server is 1.2, but both Ubuntu
16.04.1 and Fedora 24 require 1.3 at least.

When I connect with full display, this causes me to get a 600x800 window
in the full display instead of the full display because the resize fails on
the server.

My current work around on both Ubuntu 16.04.1 and Fedora 24 is to bring
up a terminal and type "xrandr -s 1680x1050". This works as the command line
version is 1.5.

However using the display settings under Mate also fails.

Hi all,

on request of the Ubuntu MATE team I have enabled automatic builds for X2Go
packages for Ubuntu 15.10.

Builds are pending and should appear during the day.

Furthermore, I have removed packages for all non-supported Ubuntu versions
from the X2Go PPAs (i.e., packages for Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) and Ubuntu 14.10
(utopic).

Right now, I am able to connect to japsand fine.
1. That wiki URL loads successfully.
2. I connected to an LXDE X2Go session (only X2Go developers have access.)
3. I connected to an rdesktop session to the WinBuilder VM (although
someone else was already logged in, so I canceled.)

Hi

Due to a hanging rm process, we had to restart the server today.

After rebooting the machine, it was decided to also update the system to
the
latest packages version, but still staying on Debian Wheezy (for now.)

The server is using a custom kernel module provided by Realtek for its
RTL8168
ethernet NIC. An in-kernel driver is available, but proved to be too
unreliable,
leading to frequent network outages and even machine crashes whenever the
network IO load was higher than a few hundred KB/s. The hosting provider
has a
wiki entry for this issue at this location:
http://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/Installation_des_r8168-Treibers/en

Unfortunately, the current driver version as provided by Realtek, 8.040,
seems
to be incompatible with the old 3.2.0-4-amd64 (3.2.68-1+deb7u2) kernel
provided
by Debian.

As of writing this, I do not know what happened exactly, but most likely
the
module caused a kernel panic during bootup.

Reverting to an older version, 8.037, fixed this issue and let the server
boot
up correctly again. For future maintenance work, please use this older
version,
at least on Debian Wheezy.

I put the module source code into /usr/src and created a symlink from
/usr/src/r8168-current to /usr/src/r8168-8.037.00.

---

Other updated packages include Java (version 7 co-installed, the
alternatives
symlink now point to version 7 instead of 6) and Jenkins, including its
plugins.

A test build run suggests the Jenkins update was successful.

2015-05-11 Thread Robert Dinse

Sounds like your'e all having fun, wish I could join but funds and time
don't allow travel at present.

I recently upgraded both my workstation and server to Ububtu 15.04 and
happy to report X2Go still works on both except that sound is broken on the
server, but I don't think that is an X2Go issue but rather an issue with my
using a different kernel and audio modules not loading. I'll chase it down
while you're all relaxin' and having fun.

Hello, everyone!

This is an update on the X2Go: The Gathering 2015 situation.
** Please pay special attention to the sections containing the **
** word UPDATE in capital letters. **

Registration ends in one week from today!

UPDATE: All beds are booked out by our ten participants!

These are, in alphabetical order:

- - Alonso, Nicolas Arenas (TheQVD)
- - Baur, Stefan (BAUR-ITCS)
- - DePaulo, Michael Swinick
- - Fleten, Kjetil Andre (fleten.net)
- - Gabriel, Mike (DAS-NETZWERKTEAM)
- - Heinold, Henning
- - Martinez, Nito (TheQVD)
- - Moldovan, Mihai (BAUR-ITCS)
- - Pedersen-Cook, Mark (fleten.net)
- - Wicke, Florian (Hetzner)

UPDATE: Thanks to Florian Wicke's employer, Hetzner, we will be able
to cover the accomodation costs of at least 4 participants, and we
will probably spend the remaining money of Hetzner's sponsorship on
food and/or travel expenses.

Also, special thanks to Linuxhotel for jumping in and renewing their
kind offer, as we had originally selected another location that didn't
work out.

If you still want to join us, you have the following options:

- - You can bring your own sleeping bag and sleep on the conference room
floor (in theory, bringing your own tent and setting it up on the
lawn should work, too - it has been done before - but if you're
really that desperate, please *do* tell me in advance that you're
bringing a tent, so I can check back with the Linuxhotel owners).
- - You can visit us on a day-by-day basis, sleeping elsewhere.
- - UPDATE: You can ask me to be put on a waiting list, in case more
 beds become available.

Regardless of which option you choose:
Please DO contact me at x2go-m...@baur-itcs.de with the
text The Gathering somewhere in the subject and bug me publicly on
the X2Go-Project list if you don't receive a confirmation by e-mail
after a day or two.

For those sleeping elsewhere, there's no such hard deadline as
for the room reservations, but you will need to check in (see
Admission fee below) for our gathering with the Linuxhotel staff, so
please *do* let us know in advance.

*Cost overview*
UPDATE: An overview of the costs, updated for people interested in
taking the sleeping bag or day-to-day approach, is available at:
http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/events:x2go-gathering-2015#cost_overview

*Payment*
UPDATE: You will have to pay in cash *on Saturday morning* - or *upon
arriving at Linuxhotel*, if you're not staying over night. Sorry, we
can't accept credit cards, debit cards, bitcoins or other forms of
payment for this event - *cash only*.
UPDATE: The only exception to the rule are wire transfers for those
participants wanting to pay in advance. Also, all payments must be
made in *Euro, not in foreign currencies*.
If you wish to pay in advance, please contact me via E-Mail at
x2go-m...@baur-itcs.de for the SEPA banking details.

*Lunch/Dinner/BBQ*
UPDATE: We have reached critical mass so that we could order
lunch/dinner from Linuxhotel as well, if all participants agree.
Dear participants:
Please let me know whether you would like to
[ ] have lunch served by Linuxhotel on
   [ ] Saturday
   [ ] Sunday
   [ ] both
[ ] have dinner served by Linuxhotel on Saturday
[ ] have dinner at Unperfekthaus on Saturday, like last year
[ ] bring your own food/order pizza/fire up the BBQ whenever you want
I need your answer by 2015-05-18, so I can make the proper
reservations and arrangements!!!

Linuxhotel charges 5 EUR per person and lunch/dinner, however, you can
expect a discount on that

2015-05-11 Thread Robert Dinse

I'm caught up working on firewall rules. We experienced a DoS attack of
sufficient intensity to take us offline for three hours saturday morning.
Part of the problem was the way I had our firewall setup so it was filtering
on interfaces outgoing rather than incoming. That meant all the bogus
traffic crossed the system bus and ate CPU on the router. I've been working
on a fix for that since and got behind on other work. Once I get caught up
I'll sort out whether it's a client or server issue (I have other servers
that are known working) and go from there. Thanks for the info and hope all
goes well.

It's actually a client problem, I think.

If 15.05 ships libpulse-6 and you're using the release build of X2Go Client,
that's broken.

As a workaround, please try the nightly builds.

[X2Go-Dev] Bug#838: control-alt-arrow keys

2015-04-12 Thread Robert Dinse

Package: x2goagent

I am using Ubuntu 14.10 with Mate Desktop with multiple work spaces.
If I use Remmina with NX plugin, the control-alt-right/left arrow keys
work to switch work spaces even when I'm up on a remote desktop.

With X2Go, it usually doesn't work, except if I use control-alt-M to
minimize the session then restore it, the keys will usually work thereafter.

Remmina has a way to toggle this behavior, a little pull down at the
top with a keyboard symbol. If it's down, the control-alt-arrows go to
the end application allowing me to switch work spaces on the remote desktop,
and if it's up they go to the local desktop.

It would be nice if x2go had a similar facility but if not it would be
better for that key sequence to always act locally since I can switch
work spaces remotely by using the mouse but can not locally because the
switcher is hidden by the remote desktop x2go is displaying.
