Hi Stefan,
Thanks for your mail.I understand your point with the minimized window. But I wanted to present an obvious immediately visiblemenu to our less experienced end-users in order to avoid missunderstanding, and minimizing the need for a documentation and training in how to start a remote application. In this caseI can imagine that the command line approach to start a single applicationcould be an option. On the other side we also have more advanced users, who would use more applications and also wants to start a desktop environment. However if there would be a way to force the application menu to pop-up uppon connection, would bethe easyiest way for me.
Thanks for the tip regarding the Linux on Power IBM meeting in Zrich, I am considering to visit the event.
Swizzly

Hi!
When the x2goclient connects to a server with published
applications, the user has to click on the icon in the session
window to open the list of published applications. Is there a way
to automatically open up the menu of the published applications
after a successfull connection?
Actually, Ive been quite happy to have that darn menu out of the way,
so Ive set my configuration to immediately minimize to the
taskbar/systray. ;-)
I prefer the right-click-to-start approach similar to the local start
menu. If you want to try it out:
- -Options/Settings, General tab, check Display icon in system
tray, and check all the boxes within that frame, too.
Since youre sending your mail from a .ch domain - in case you are
using a German-Language environment, the names are:
Einstellungen/Konfiguration, Reiter Allgemein, Symbol im
Systemabschnitt der Kontrolleiste anzeigen.
Also, note that there is a way to start one application immediately
after the connection is established in Published Application Mode.
Maybe you can use that as a workaround for your use case?
I.e. my customers use this to start the web browser immediately upon
connect, and when they need access to another application, they select
it from the context menu of the taskbar/systray icon.
Add --autostart=nameofprogram to the command line/shortcut for that.

PS: There will be an X2Go demo at the IBM campus in Zurich,
Switzerland in June. If thats close to your location, feel free to
stop by (admission is free, but registration is required, contact me
off-list for details).
