If I have a PC on my network that has Xfree86 installed how can I make it
use KDE from a more powerful PC on my network?

There are serveral ways to do this. One of my favourites would be to set up
an SSH connection and enbaled X11 tunneling trought it. Then, when you have
logged into the more powerfull PC, you could simply start your KDE session
from that machine by using startkde .

An even simpler method, albeit not as safe, would be to telnet to the other
machine, export your display to your local machine and then start KDE (if
you use the SSH method with X11 tunneling, your DISPLAY evironment variable
is automatically set for you).

Be warned however, that even if you have a more powerful PC on your network,
your network's bandwidth will most likely impose a speed penatly greater than
what you gain by running KDE from a more powerfull machine. So much so in
fact that it will most likely be faster to run KDE locally, no matter how
slow your machine is.

If you choose to try the SSH method anyway, you might get a slightly better
result by enabeling compression of the data being sent, but I doubt it will
be enough to make such as setup usable for anything else than proof of concept.
