[XFree86] Resolution not setting automatically

2006-03-09 Thread U M A R
After installing debian in one pc connected to the monitor it sets resolution automatically. So i disconnect that monitor and attach some Projector and booted my OS then its not automatically setting resolution. If i tried to reduce or increaase the resolution its not showing any other resolution options except 640x800.So how can i make OS (debian based) to autoconfigure for any monitor connected at the runtime. Everytime giving dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg is very tedious Any other alternative Regards: U M A R

[XFree86] resolution

2006-01-11 Thread Kövesdi György
Hi!

I have a Clevo M55G notebook with 1400x1050 resolution, and
SuSE 10.0 system. The installer creates a modeline for this
resolution, but the X server silently ignores this, and uses
the next built-in resolution (1280x1024).
If I create a modeline by hand, it is accepted only for some
known resolutions (640x480, 1024x768, etc), but if I only
change the displayed pixels, the modeline is ignored
(without error messages).

How can I create modeline for such a resolution?

The original modeline:
ModeLine 1400x1050 122.61 1400 1488 1640 1880 1050 1051
1054 1087
This is not accepted. If I change the displayed pixels:
ModeLine 1400x1050 122.61 1280 1488 1640 1880 1024 1051
1054 1087
This uses the same timings, but 1280x1024 window. It is
accepted, and working properly. Why the previous one is
rejected?

Regards,
Gyorgy Kovesdi

[XFree86] Resolution Improperly Set

2004-10-07 Thread Michael Hamilton
I have a system that has to support a 17inch and 15inch LCD monitor. I
want the 17 inch monitor to support 1280x1024 and the 15 inch to only
support 1024. When the system boots up the 15 inch monitor is put into
virtual 1280 mode (even though the logs correctly identify its max
resolution as 1024).
It is stretched beyond the screen, and scaled to look really bad.

How can I force monitors to support their top native resolution?

[XFree86] resolution problems with SGI 1600SW

2004-09-01 Thread Cory Simpson
Sorry, I sent this from the wrong address the first
time.

Hello, I have been having some problems setting up my
SGI 1600SW to display correctly with XFree86 4.3. Here
is my setup.

XFree86-4.3
ATI Radion 7500 (Using DVI)
SGI 1600SW (via multilink adapter)

I located the correct modeline here for my monitor:

http://www.xfree86.org/4.3.0/I1284.html#4

But for some reason the Multilink adapter reports that
it's running at 1280x1024 even though xdpyinfo says
that X is running at 1600x1024. I found a few folks
with similar issues but none that helped me figure out
the problem.

http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20844goto=nextoldest

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I
attached a copy of my XF86Config for reference.

[XFree86] XFree86 resolution problem (solved)

2004-05-12 Thread Pieter Lenaerts
hi all,

I had compiled Xfree86
configured with XFree86 -configure
edited XF86Config to my likings
when running the server, the only available resolution was 640x480
in the log files, the problem appeared to be the horizontal sync and the
vertical refresh rates that were not set.

solution to problem was:
get yr refresh rates the way they should be or the X server will fail to
use your screen modes in your config-file

hope this helps anyone

[XFree86] Resolution problem on Gateway M305X laptop

2004-02-26 Thread Don Rogers
Greetings,

I am having difficulty getting my m305x gateway laptop to run at the
advertised 1024x768 18bit color depth. The best resolution that I have
been able to get is 800x600.

It seemed to work under WinXP, but that is gone now :)

The system is running Fedora Core 1, the chipset is Intel 852GM and X
seems to be using the i810 driver.

The Gateway specs on this machine say regarding the display:
15.0 XGA TFT Active Matrix Color Display
1024x768 @ 18 bit (262K) Colors.

I don't have the laptop with me at work today and I did not bring a copy
of XF86Config, but I do have a 'Display' subsection in the 'Screen'
section that sets the depth to 16 and the resolution to 1024x768. I can
provide XF86Config tomorrow if needed.

My XFree86.0.log is attached. There you can see that I don't seem to
have the BIOS related stolen memory problem (where the bios only
allocates 1M video ram instead of 8M).

I do see,
(II) I810(0): Monitor0: Using hsync range of 31.50-67.00 kHz
(II) I810(0): Monitor0: Using vrefresh range of 50.00-75.00 Hz
(II) I810(0): Not using mode 1024x768 (no mode of this name)
(II) I810(0): Increasing the scanline pitch to allow tiling mode (800 -
1024).
(--) I810(0): Virtual size is 800x600 (pitch 1024)
(**) I810(0): *Built-in mode 800x600
(**) I810(0): *Built-in mode 640x480
(==) I810(0): DPI set to (75, 75)

Thanks in advance for any help,

[XFree86] Resolution

2004-02-18 Thread David Hansen Jr.
I recently moved from Red Hat 9 to Fedora 1. In RH, my resolution
colors were fine. I had 1024x768 in 24-bit. When I moved to Fedora,
When I try to run XFree86 in the same settings, it locks. The best I
can do is 1024x768 in 8-bit. I've got an ATI Radeon 7000 (64MB) and a
DigiView 17 monitor. Both worked fine before. I'm running XFree86
4.3.0-42. Any suggestions?

I've chosen the Standard 1024x768 NI CRT monitor in the config.

Thanks,
David

Including a copy of your config (/etc/X11/XF86Config) and the X log

[XFree86] Resolution problem

2004-01-13 Thread raja t nair
Hi,

I am using a compaque presario machine p4, intel MB,
256MB RAM.

I dual boot b/w win and rh linux 9.0.

windows gives maximum resolution (1024 x 768) at 24
bits, once the disaplay driver is provided.

but, Redhat doesnt seem to give the needed resolution,
only (800x600 max), that too with shivering and all.
why does this happen? does windows have any special
tricks to take up more memory? 'coz the bios shared
memory is only 2 MB. if so , why doesn't xfree86 have
that trick?

in compaq machine, i cannot change the bios shared
memory beyond the current one.

pls help..

[XFree86] resolution

2003-12-24 Thread isamu
how can I change the resolution of my Xfree server, since Mandrake
control center, the options where permit the change its disabled; I must
edit some files of config or what?
In the same way when I try to run some games like tuxracer change for a
few instants the size of the screen , but it seems to crash (the game)
and the screen show only a part of the desk , but if move your mouse out
the area it scrolls to complete the others parts_
What can I do to allow the resize of my screen on both situations:
to allow programs like games, vids, or emulators to change the screen
resolution and to permit from nadrake control center to change it.
Note: the only way i can chane it its to reinstall the entire mandrake.
My video card its a SIS 300 w/32 mb.
thanks.

[XFree86] Resolution problem

2003-12-15 Thread Garrett Sinfield
Hello,
I have a problem with the resolution of Xfree86 and running fluxbox. I've
gone into XF86Config and changed the Section screen, and Section
Display, both leading to dead ends. I'm not quite sure what to do, so as a
last resort I'm email you. Attached is my current XF86Config file. I'm not
quite sure what the HorizSync and VertRefresh is on my monitor, but with
windows it's able to run at the resolution of 1024x768 with 32bit color. Any
help at all is appreciated. Thank you.

According to the PDF on ADI's web site, this should be:

HorizSync30 - 96
VertRefresh 50 - 160

That should be capable of 1600x1200 @ 75Hz

If those specs are correct, that monitor cannot do 1600x1200.
If it can do 1600x1200 then those specs are incorrect.

[XFree86] Resolution supported by XFree86 4.3.0

2003-11-13 Thread pankaj srinivasan
Hello,
I need to obtain a resolution of 1920X1200 using
XFree86 4.3.0. I have been able to run XFree86 4.3.0
on LynxOS 4.0 and it is working fine.
The graphics card being used is ATI Radeon Mobility
9000 that supports an even higher resolution than
required.
Could you please tell me the maximum resolution
supported by XFree86 4.3.0 and whether it can support
the resolution of 1920X1200.

Thanks,
Pankaj
