[XFree86] XRandR and some strange deadlock

2003-05-27 Thread Nicolas Wiest-Daesslé
Hello,

I have a question about XRandR, i cannot figure out how to have the
rotation work, is it that it is not implemented yet? will it be soon?

I am currently using a 4.3 XFree86 on an nvidia geforce 2 card, (tried
the nv and nvidia driver and got the same output of xrandr -q).

I am also experiencing some strange behaviour like a lock of all X
except the mouse, i needed to log in with ssh and kill the X server.
it always happens when using Openoffice (and some times with other apps)
There is no way switching to a VT or killing the session with
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.
The computer is a bi- pentium 3, with 1Gb of RAM running a debian linux.

Thanks in advance.

   It's not implemented.

 will it be soon?

Probably not, possibly never.

The only way to get rotation with that card is to use the
nv driver and the Rotate option in the config file. You need
to turn off the RandR extension though (Option RandR 0) or
else the rotation option won't work.

Mark.
