Interesting. '-xf86config' is used to specify an alternative config file. You need to specify the name of the config file after the option name. Are you sure it wasn't the '-configure' option? I have a compaq LTE5000 laptop which has a Cirrus clgd7543 chipset which is not listed in the Cirrus list. Perhaps I can use a compatible chipset as I have had no problems with Mandrake 7.1.
