also, one of my friends wants a tag suggestion engine, in

or would it have a bad perfomance impact in some way?
See http://tagyu.com/
I tried it on an article in New Scientist and never got a response
back. I don't have time right now to plug many other URLs in it to
find a failure pattern. maybe it's completely down.
Personally I'm not convinced about the requirement for this (nor does
this implementation seem optimal). Humans still much better at working
out what something is about than machines.
I'm not convinced about the requirement, and I'm going to ping my
friend about it a little more when I have brain time. a tag suggestion
engine would work for semantically related tags, and perhaps it could
be sat to also suggestion categories. it would be more useful to have
something suggest tags based on a user's profile/behavior because the
idiosyncratic choices are often the most useful.
How is a tag engine going to know that I want to tag something
to.speculate and why? and the significance of what I stack with
certain tags? and so on.
OTOH, it could be useful to see what tags other people have used on a
resource.
easily done with del for URLs. so you could do a search aggregator
across tagging web services?
