Hi, Alex, I have never been able to use the slideshow mode effectively. I always had to export the slide shows to html and read it with a browser. Impress is very difficult to use with Orca and has been this way since forever. You sound like you may have a better idea of why it doesn't work

Use open office and not libre office. Libre Office did not work at all well for me with either screen reader. Open Office worked well with NVDA. Writer worked with Jaws but nothing else in the suite did. And yes, you will need the Java access bridge from Oracle. Alex M -Original
