Title: small domain upgrade strategy
You should dcpromo the old win2k server afterwards to
remove it as a DC and then remove it from the domain. You may have already
planned on doing this you just didn't mention it :)

Without a backup and without having another DC you can't recover the domain.

I made a slight error when creating a group policy, and now need some advice on how to

I am in the process of setting up Exchange 2000
after you install Exchange, BEFORE the initial
reboot. I hope this helps with your problem. As a side note, I did
NOT install Exchange on a DC, it was a member server.

To apply separate password policies to different OU's you will need to
create a Group Policy and only change the password settings, then apply
it to that OU. You can make however many you like, and just apply them
to the OU of your choosing.
I attended a seminar and remember hearing that if you
Chris is correct on this, one password policy for the domain. I guess I
just assumed that because Quest did it with their software that it was
possible without. Thats what I get for assuming I suppose.

I can see where Shawn is going with this. A Raid 0+1 array would handle this
situation better by getting the performance of sequential data writes. If it's a high
performance controller it will handle the data flow very well. Ironicly you would get
similar performance with that much memory
