What that article talked about was putting the same WINS server in the TCPIP
settings twice so

has, you should run

WINS is configured and running. I even made a #PRE and #DOM entries to the lmhosts
file with the /1c and /1b netbios suffix for the pdc emulator dc which is running sp3.
still same error.

Command line or other it is not possible. WinNT and above are required
for membership in a domain whether it is NT or AD. Win98 can 'browse' in
the domain but it can not be a security principal.

administer Win98 clients. Are you thinking of something similar to the XP Remote
Desktop functionality?
