The install process still needs to write stuff to the Schema. Try this: On the DC being used by the Exchange server during the install (you can find this by doing set L from a cmd prompt) add the following reg value: HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\System\Current Control Set\Services\NTDS\Parameters Schema
