Inspite of Raid and redundant power supplies,
you still have a single point of failure,
it can fail as a whole due to surge, firmeware or cabling error

We have had these same types of problems when collocation is set to yes.
Try turning it off and running your backup again, I bet you will see it pick
up more drives.

I had the same problem when I had to put the TDP on a new Server. The way I resolved
the issue was to uninstall the 5.1.5 TDP, Install the Base TDP version 2.2 and then
upgrade to 5.1.5.
That should fix it.

We are in the process of ditching our current BackupExec/ArcServe setup in
favor of a central TSM environment. We have decided to expand our
existing 3494 tape library (additional frame w/ 2 3590 drives, SCSI) but
haven't selected the hardware/operating system for the TSM server.
I would say run the TSM server on AIX since u have it in house already.
W2K would be the next choice with the AS/400 being last on the list for
sure.
