The network transfer rate is very slow, are the NICs set to full duplex
and speed fixed or are they autonegotiating with the switch? What else is
passing through the TSM Server NICs at the time? Are the backups going to
disk or tape?What are those resourses doing at the time?
Also, can you get
Hi,
I haven't followed the discussion but I hade the same problem with a TSM Server

We really tried to tune the network and we got a little bit better performance
but in the end it shows that the F-Secure Anti-Virus Software was scanning all

Hi Ian,
The TSM client that's having issues was sending it's data to a disk pool
and not tape. The NIC's are set to 2GB on both. The TSM server was doing
approximately 6 NAS NDMP backups, 2 Admin Tape to Tape backup stgpool
copies and I believe there were approximately 6 TSM clients
Try transfer the file by ftp and get the estimate speed, on this way we will be
able to see the network speed time, and tsm network speed time

Hi Richard,
By the time I was notified of the issue the TSM client in question,
fjsu102, had already sent additional data. Where might I be able to get
the accounting logs on the client? This process from the client was
actually an archive that was going directly to disk on the TSM server and

You need to set accounting on, on the TSM server.
Once done, it will output session info to a csv file, which can then be
cross referenced against pre defined headers.

Try the SUMMARY table on the TSM server, e.g.:
select * from summary \
where start_time='2007-08-07 05:00:00' and \
end_time='2007-08-07 05:37:00' and \
activity='ARCHIVE' and \
entity='FJSU102'
How certain are you that for that archive operation there was no tape
mount

In the server directory, unless you directed it elsewhere
Hi Andy,
Thanks! I have the output for the session in question, but it doesn't
look like it was going to tape and honestly I don't see much idle time.
The comm_wait was 14 which when I looked it up is current communication
wait time in seconds.

how make the migration?

We are experiencing some A/C issues and had to shut down some of our TSM
servers. Unfortunately, one of them is an old Library Manager.
Therefore, my other servers are complaining that they can not communicate
with it.

Hello,
I would like to know if someone has experience using the Simultaneous
Write feature of TSM 5.4?
We are thinking about creating a copy_pool on a remote site tape library
and enable this feature to see if we can create the copy tapes at a
remote site directly.
Has anybody done this?
Thanks!
I have a 5.3.4.0 TSM server and am using simultaneous write for one client
with a huge DB to backup. Like 300+ GB DB dump.Backing up over
Gig Ethernet direct to LTO2 tape drives in local IBM 3584 Library.
Onsite and offsite tape pool. Works well.
I do not have a remote site, so don't know

It seems to work fine, but I found a couple of operational limitations.
I normally have a TAPEPOOL01 and a COPYPOOL01 storage pools that I use

I was going to just change the TAPEPOOL01
