Hello,
You should use File Device Class for DB backups.

Hoi Del!
I understand that using the same TSM node for backing up the Principal
and the new Principal after a take-over is a solution.
So: if ServerA is the principal, one has to execute the backup script on
this server. After a take-over, ServerB becomes the principal and one
has to execute the
I don't think you need an external tool.
The two ways I can think of are just to run the backup
on both nodes, knowing that the backup will fail on the
secondary node and succeed on the primary node.
Or... in the script, you can use an osql command
to query the database state and execute the
Hi Del!
I think our SQL guys will go for the second solution. We use a
third-party scheduling tool (Control-M) and failing backups will create
a problem report.
I will forward your suggestion to them.
Again, thank you very much for your reply!

Rob,
Backing up your DB to a virtual volume is a nice option that I use
for my entire environment as PART of my recovery strategy.

destination - it can
Again, searching the actlog or the summary table for the restore information is
fine as long as what you're looking for is within
the retention of the ACTLOGRETENTION and SUMMARYRETENTION values you've set. Or
if you're saving the actlog on a regular basis you
can search it still. But if it's
Hello,
and if you want more granularity, you can also use the REPORTRETRIEVE YES

TSM activity log when a file is restored. For example :

Look at this site, many of the show commands are listed.

anyone could remind me the undocumented commands to manage the threads

environment), please ?

I've got a few boxes (Windows NT 5, TSM Client 5.4.1.2, TSM server
5.3.4.0) on which the CAD seems confused about what time to do which.
An example is a box which has a schedule for 1800, but it attempted to
kick it off at 0800 this AM. The diagnostics seem reasonable

Thanks for your help.
On the target server, ensure that the ARCHIVE copygroup in the domain

However, if I use the devtype server when I define my devclass, I will get a

I have a big project to move 100TB of Domino backups (and their
definitions) to a new TSM server (phasing out AIX).
Besides having resource issues (time, disk, tape.the usual), I need to
keep the Domino backups running while the moves (imports/exports) are in
progress.
We perform all three

Rob,
On the source server, yes you will have sequential devclass
regardless (irregardless?) of the type of device on the target server.
The device is virtual and gets converted to what is real on the target
server through some TSM voodoo magic.
Try a small test by:

Is there a list somewhere of what server commands a storage agent supports?
The storage agent manual doesn't seem to give a list of support commands.
Some commands work find (q sess, q mount), but others get routed to
the tsm server.
I can't find a document for what commands work, and how.

You will have to make a new definition of the Domino server on your new TSM
server. Then, at you leisure, export the old data to the new server.
