We made the move from VTL to DD VTL by moving the tapes in order of oldest to newest. The theory being that all of those notepad copies that are 5 years old could be on the same tape and it should reduce reclaims. Out of curiosity, how big are you making you files on the DD? Andy Huebner

Hi Gary, in v6 expiration puts a row in the summary table for every node, plus a summary row for the whole process. Here is output from a script which displays rows from summary. As you can see, some of the elapsed times are 0 - Activity Target Start Time End Time

Copypool storage question

Our primary tape backup pool is set to keep 5 versions of each file. Each morning the overnight incremental backups into this storage pool are copied into the copypool and then these tapes are sent offsite. Is there anyway to setup the copypool so that it only has the last 2 versions of each

Hi Paul Short answer no. Its all or nothing with copy pools. You can keep just the last version of each file with an active pool, but you should have a copy pool as well just in case your primary pool goes bad. You could send the active pool offsite and keep the copy pool onsite. What are you
