Question around Enabled Events

2014-07-30 Thread Neil Schofield
We run TSM Server on Windows and rely on using the NTEVENTLOG receiver for TSM server event management. I've noticed that somewhere in between v5.5 and v6.3 of the server, over 380 events of severity ERROR seem to have gone missing from the list of enabled events to this receiver. I've tweaked a

Hi, VSS is mandatory for system state backups in forced by M$. You might look into excluding system state from TSM backups and do native windows backup via precmd of the system state to a flat file. From what I have heard windows native backup still handles the backup in a different way the

Yup. I haven't had this problem with Win2K8 yet, but had it all the time on Win2K3. And we do exactly as Karel said, use a presched .cmd file to dump the system state to a flat file, then add DOMAIN -systemstate to the dsm.opt file so TSM won't call VSS to do the system state backup. Only

Hi all, The Windows backup utility in Windows 2008 and later is different than ntbackup, and behaves more closely to TSM. It is likely that if VSS is causing problems for TSM, it will also do the same for the Windows backup tool. It needs to enumerate the available VSS writers and the files that

Hi Sarav, If I understand you correctly you have an AIX box with LPARS, and one of those is a VIO server, providing services to other LPARS. You wish to install the library client on the VIO Server. Is that correct? See http://www.torontoaix.com/vio-how-to-s/cheatsheet. You don't have access

Nested NFS filespace bug

2014-07-30 Thread Skylar Thompson
I know I've recommended backing up NAS filespaces over NFS in the past, so I thought I'd pass along this serious bug we've run into with v6.4.x clients when backing up nested filespaces (i.e. -dom='/nfs /nfs/subdir'). While v6.3.x and before would backup /nfs/subdir as a separate filespace, v6.4.x
