Hi Rick! Formatting the whole volume was the case in the TSM 5.5 era, but not anymore. Formatting a diskpool or filepool volume took ages back then because it was filed with a text string (my name backwards :-), but with version 6 this has changed and it just pre-allocates the requested space

I believe that the OC will want to create a named account (default name) on each TSM server it monitors (it's ok to say TSM, I'm not IBM). This password would need to be the same across all the TSM servers. I think that's going to be the problem for you but I could be wrong.

Smarter way of formatting? Either it fills the files with zero's or with a certain text string like in 5.5, formatting takes time. Allocating a 100 Gb files currently takes a few seconds, so it's impossible that TSM physically formats a file. Kind regards, Eric van Loon AF/KLM Storage

It depends on the file system the volume is created on. Ext4 and JFS support sparse file creation and TSM takes advantage of it. NFS does not. Search the admin guide for "preallocated" for info. On Wed, Sep 9, 2015 at 10:51 AM, Loon, EJ van (ITOPT3) - KLM wrote: Smarter

Hi Eric, On AIX there is the iocp, this van apparently perform the formatting for TSM, what you see is that TSM only needs a few moments to format the volume, and from there on IOCP takes over. On unix file systems, because they support sparse files, the formatting must be performed. It's easy

You guys are right that this is not a supported OC configuration.   But, to get this to work you would want to look at configuring the OC manually (not using the Hub Configuration built in).    Take a look at serverConnection.properties in (/opt/tivoli/tsm/ui/Liberty/usr/servers/guiServer/) on

A few things that could cause issues: 1) At-Risk status is stored as a node attribute on the server in question. So having two OC's manage a node will lead to conflicting At-Risk assignments. 2) At-Risk intervals are also stored as a server attribute on each server. Same issue as above It all
