have a 3494 Library and all backups, restores, reclamation, migrations and
expiration have worked smoothly and flawlessly.
Maybe I am not trying the correct action on the nodes table?

Hi,
Definitely remove all drives from the TSM Server and re-add them to TSM.
Make sure all firmware on library, drives, and the latest Atape is
installed.

Hi,
How long do you wait? If it is a file backed up on the original full
backup - a lot of data needs to be waded through - then the location - the
mount, etc. It can take 30 minutes or so?

HI,
Has anyone that uses the ABC client for OpenVMS upgraded to the brand new version of
3.1.0.5? We would like to use the feature that allows the logs to be sent over to the
TSM server - but would like to make sure it is stable.
Thanks,

HI,
I think your problem might be the NOLIMIT option - it saves a copy of all
files - whether or not they are deleted - it doesn't clear space off your
disks during expiration - we had the same problem - until I removed NOLIMIT
off our Novell policy.

at all! After I
let the expiration run for the 4 days - I gained back literally hundreds of
scratch tapes, and expiration takes about 3-4 hours daily.
I hope this helps,

I had that problem with expiration - my mail server kept pinning the

that caused expiration
to never finish. When we changed the settings from keeping a copy forever to
a set period of time like 90 days, and we had deleted 19,000,000 files off
our mail server - everything was perfect.

HI,
If you open up dsmc with -comma parameter, all output will be put in a csv
file - perfect for perl scripting (and you can redirect your output). We do
that every night to mail out a report of backups nightly - also to
automatically mail a report of tapes ejecting for offsite storage , and
assign them
to the pool manually. We have not seen the need for this.

Hi,
We use file collacation on a couple of domains - critical restore needs -
and I believe from class the collocation can be forced by moving data - or
wait until all reclaimation occurs naturally. You will eventually end up
with all the clients collocated - instead of tying up your tape

Those commands - post and preschedulecmd only stop and wait on Unix - Not
NT - so only use if you can live with the command scripts going on at the
same time as the backups.
