Thanks for your response . I was able to delete the volumes .
The steps are:
1. checkout libvol volumename
2. move media volumename stgpool=stgpool name wherestate=mountablenotinlib
3. Then checkin the volumes with status as scratch

I am having difculty in moving empty volumes to scratch pool
1. I tried del volume command i am getting the following error
ANR1425W Scratch volume VOL109 is empty but will not be
deleted - volume state is mountablenotinlib

The archives are very much slower than the selctive or incremental backups. Both are
backed up to tapes directly
Is there anything I can tune or modify at the server or client level to improve the
speed of archives?

I am finding some difficulties in backing up to the tape library.
I am using TSM 5.1 .
I get the following error while backup
ANR1134W Migration terminated for storage pool BACKUPPOOL - insufficient number
