I have previously logged a PMR for this as we are seeing the dsmcsvc process
not releasing all the memory it uses during the backup, each day the amount of
memory the dsmcsvc process uses increases by 20 - 50MB. This can increase until
the dsmcsvc.exe process is consuming over 1GB

From those memory limits I assume that your running 32bit Windows on this
server
I doubt you will see much improvement going to 8GB with a 32bit OS as it can
not efficiently use it even with the Enterprise version
Have you looked into the 64bit versions of windows as the Standard
You can just install the 5.5.3.0 TDP then copy the sqlclient.lic file into the
TDP install folder.
