Robert,
Maybe the " Delay Period for Container Reuse " option on the storage pool ?

Hi to all

Would expect not as the whole point of the active data pool was having active
verslons on disk and inactive data on cheaper tape. Container is disk only and
dedupe needs repeating blocks of data to be effective.

In a TSM 7.1.7 server, can a container stgpool be used as an activedata stgpool?

Have a need to try to thin down the query nodedata list of tapes to only
the tapes with active data on them for a node if at all possible.
Just wondering if anyone knows of one.

How does one automate the process of sending active data pool media offsite in
a TSM 5.5 environment? The SET DRMACTIVEDATASTGPOOL command is not available
in 5.5.
No.

If I delete active data pool volumes with discardd=y, it doesn't
remove that same data from other primary/copy pools?

Michael,
I imply that by active data pool, you are implying primary storage
pool; if that is the case then deleting a primary storage pool volume
with discardd=yes will not only remove data on the primary storage pool
volume but also any copies of the data on the copy pools.
BERTAUT TCHUISE
I think he means Active-data pools as in the storage pools you can
populate with the copy activedata command. (Introduced TSM5.4)
And yes, you can delete from active data pools without affecting the
primary copypool data.

Shawn

No, I mean ACTIVEdata stgpool, not the primary storage pool.
The one that is created as in:

Hi list,
How can I change the status of a particular tape in the LTO Library to SCRATCH
I would try to move the data that is on that tape to another tape first.
move data volume
then if everything gets moved, you can change the status to scratch.

Good Afternoon.
Is there a query that will allow me to see how much Active data is
stored in our Tapepool. I know how much Total Data we have but was
wondering how much active data we have.
We are running on AIX 5.2 with TSM 5.2.2.Our clients are a mix of
Windows 2000, 2003, AIX 5.1, 5.2, 5.3
of active data.
This would improve restores because all active data could be held on
disk storage whereas the inactive data is migrated to tape.
Does anyone know if this enhancement will make it into the next TSM
Release/Version? If yes, when will it be available?
Kind regards
Thomas Rupp
Did you use the cache on stgpool disk ?
With cached stgpool data will not moved from disk to tape but copied
during migration.
When the stgpool disk become full the oldest data are deleted.
This can you help a bit.
The cons is a performance hit during migration.
