CALL FOR PAPERS ACM GIS November 7-8, 2003, New Orleans, Louisiana USA
http://www.esri.com/events/acm/index.htm Introduction ================= The 11th International Symposium of ACM GIS will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 7th and 8th, 2003. It is the 11th of a series of symposia/workshops that began in 1993 with the aim of bringing together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners carrying out research and development in novel systems based on geo-spatial data and knowledge, and fostering interdisciplinary discussions and research in all aspects of geographic information systems. The symposium will provide a forum for original research contributions and practical system design, implementation, and applications of GIS. ACM-GIS 2003 will be held in conjunction with the 12th International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (ACM-CIKM 2003). Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following: =================================================================== Computational geometry Constraint databases Content-based image retrieval Geospatial data versioning GIS and the Internet Graphical aspects of GIS and spatial DBMS Interoperability and standards (including metadata and ontologies) Large-scale GIS servers and parallel GIS Location-based services Management of raster and vector data Mobile and distributed geographic information services Multidimensional access methods Multiple representations in spatial databases Novel and challenging applications Performance evaluation and benchmarking Real-time spatio-temporal GIS Similarity search Spatial and spatio-temporal data mining Spatial and spatio-temporal data modeling Spatial data quality Spatial query processing and optimization Spatial reasoning Visual query languages Virtual reality and 3D GIS XML and GIS Instructions for Authors Authors are invited to submit full papers or one-page descriptions of panel proposals. Papers reporting original and unpublished research results on the above and other related topics are solicited. All submitted papers will be refereed for quality, originality and relevance by the Program Committee. The acceptance/rejection of the papers will be based on the review results. All questions should be addressed to the program committee chairs. An abstract should be submitted by May 20th (firm deadline). An electronic version (PDF format) of the full paper should be submitted by May 28, 2003 (another firm deadline) to the website of the symposium. Papers must be prepared in such a way that ensures they will print anywhere. Thus, you should avoid using special fonts, nor should you include color figures. Manuscripts must be in English and should not exceed 5000 words. Submissions should include the title, author(s), author's affiliation, e-mail address, telephone number, abstract, and postal address on the first page. In case of multiple authors, please indicate which author is responsible for correspondence and preparing the camera ready paper for the proceedings. Panel proposals should be e-mailed to the program chairs: Dr. Erik Hoel: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dr. Philippe Rigaux: [EMAIL PROTECTED] If electronic submission is not possible, please send six copies of the paper to the following postal address: Dr. Erik Hoel Environmental Systems Research Institute 380 New York Street Redlands, CA 92373 USA tel: 909.793.2853 e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Important Dates (all deadlines are firm) Abstraction Submission: May 20, 2003 (e-mail in ascii format to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]) Full Paper Submission: May 28, 2003 (PDF format, black and white only) Notification of Acceptance: August 5, 2003 Camera Ready Copies: September 3, 2003 (PDF format, black and white only) Registration Deadline: September 10, 2003 (for authors) Symposium Dates: November 7-8, 2003 Program committee ======================= Program Chairs Erik Hoel (ESRI, USA) Philippe Rigaux (LRI, Univ.
