Title: New web site of ai-geostats

Dear list,

The old ai-geostats.org web site has been replaced by a new one a few minutes ago.
Switching off my 10 years old PC is definitely a revolution for me and I definitely will miss its humming

The new version is incomplete (still have to add books, papers, etc..), it will have bugs and problems (please report these to me), and may not be definitive version.

AI-GEOSTATS had to be ported to new technologies (thanks a lot to Patrick Petit for helping me out with this nightmare) for various reasons and, in the long term, it should definitely be an improvement over the old one.

Main changes:

+ Online forms have disappeared due to abuses. I will thus have to store myself the information you will provide me with via email (don't expect real-time updates!).

+ I should be able to do updates remotely from any location.

+ There is a new section with newsletters. I am thinking indeed about publishing a bimonthly bulletin with the first one to be released next week. I will announce there call for papers, conferences, announce recently submitted PhDs, and provide information on international projects. Here again, your feedback and support is essential.

+ The GIS section is empty, I need to think again about it. The previous information about GIS & Geostats is indeed outdated

+ Software: Only freeware have been described as I can't find the time at the moment to maintain information to commercial packages. I do however provide direct links to commercial products in the different categories

+ Info about latest changes properly set

Remember that this web site is for you and somehow maintained by you. By providing links to it and by helping me to keep the information up to date, you are directly helping the rest of the geostats community.

A number of people have extensively contributed to the ai-geostats over these last 10 years, in the light of the forum or behind the stage. AI-GEOSTATS would not be what it is without all of you but I would like to thank specially to Isobel Clark, Donald Myers, Pierre Goovaerts, Syed Abdul Rahman Shibli, Jeff Wolfe, Michel Maignan and Elisabeth Krausmann for their invaluable support.

Warm regards,

Gregoire

(Moderator of AI-GEOSTATS)
