could you test the latest cvs driver? i'm afraid that i did something
wrong in merging...
I've done a quick test with the CVS code now, and it seems to work just
fine, i just got some newbie

Hi Benny,
regarding your cs46xx DSP and codec list:
AFAIK the Xfire card has got a CS4624 DSP, not a CS4630. The main (only?)
difference should be the processing power (CS4624: 255MIPS, CS4630: 420MIPS).
I think the CS4630 can handle AC3 input through S/P-DIF whereas the CS4624
does not (because

If the Windows system properties tells say that's a CS4624 it can be

Hi Benny,
I'm quite sure. Have a look at the following link ;-)

It seems that rh72's gcc-2.96-98 does something funny when compiling
alsa-kernel/pci/cs4281.c (today's CVS-tree). Trying to install the module
results in following error messages:
--cut--

Hi Benny,
the Terratec DMX Xfire has got one(1) codec chip:
C (that's the Crystal logo of cirrus logic)
4294-JQ EP
(ZTAHKE0109)
the following link says
CS4294 CrystalClear 4channel

Hey.
I am just about ready to release the new alsa docs to the general public .
Can you guys tell me what the differences are in installing the card
compared to the standard template. thx.

Actually, the codecs are reversed. The CS4297A is the primary
codec, and
the CS4294 is the secondary. And yes, your driver detects them both just
fine and I can manipulate both with alsamixer and confirm the changes to
the CS4294 with the changes in the ac97#0-1regs file in

This is what I believe is left to make the secondary CODEC work on the
Santa Cruz,
but I got no way to test it.
Peter: can you please test it and tell me about the results
Here is the patch against CVS, basically just the same code from the
Cirrus work
adapted to ALSA.
diff -Naur
How free is the ADAT format? Is there any public specs? Is there any
standard chips that talks this protocol?
