I'm running ALSA 0.9.0rc2 and 2.4.18 on an an Athlon XP1500+ with an Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI (snd-ens1371). Ogg/MP3 playback is terrible during a kernel compile or when running SETI@home. The sound is slowed to about half speed and is very garbled. When the machine is mostly idle, playback is
