Hi all,
I'm using an SBLive! in my machine at home at the moment and I'm having
a bit of trouble with MIDI output. MIDI in from my (music) keyboard
seems to be fine, but using something like pmidi to play a midi file or
output from rosegarden and friends gives dead silence.
I've sfxloaded a few
My best suggestion is try running:
$ setpci -d '12eb:*' 40.B=ff
This seems to fix problems with the via chipsets.
I got this from Jeff Muizelaar (code writer for aureal chipset)

I don't know this soundfont but for reproduce standart midi files .. maybe you
need a General Midi soundfont.

The following came from my messages log. I had alsa-0.9.8 installed
before now. I have installed alsa-1xxx (latest available, can't
remember) and I get this and no sound.
Anybody know what it means (besides alsa doesn't work :) ?

hi,
i have a delta 410 and if someone could share is experience / conf with
me that would be great! i'm trying to compile envy24control-0.0.4 but i
have this error :
checking for ALSA CFLAGS...
checking for ALSA LDFLAGS... -lasound
checking for libasound headers version = 0.5.5... found.
This is a total guess hack, but it at least got me thru the configure
script:
edit line 1672 of the configure script, change snd_cards to
snd_card_get_name
rerun configure. This got me thru the configure script, but then I had
a gtk library error. I grepped nm libasound.so for snd-cards,
I get these warnings when compiling alsa-driver-1.0.0rc2
in 2.6.0 and running
/configure --with-cards=emu10k1,bt87x
--with-sequencer=yes.
