Ketua Polis Daerah Johor Bahru Utara, Asisten Komisioner Johari Yahya, berkata

tahun petang semalam," katanya.

tinggal bersama sejak tiga bulan lalu.

Kerap kena kurung - Oleh Ibrahim Isa

JOHOR BAHRU: Kanak-kanak mangsa dera, Lau Jun Wei, 3, hanya tiga kali dilihat

sepanjang tiga bulan lalu.

“Kali pertama saya lihatnya ketika mereka datang melihat rumah, kali kedua

bunyi hentakan kaki hampir setiap hari awal pagi,” katanya.

tergesa-gesa.

“Kira-kira dua minit kemudian, saya lihat teman lelakinya pulang menaiki
kerana mempunyai urusan lain,” katanya.

“Bagaimanapun, saya beranggapan ia perkara biasa kerana mungkin kanak-kanak

“Saya hanya mengetahui kematian Jun Wei selepas polis bersama ibu kanak-kanak

  Sexually-abused child dies, couple held - 06 Oct 2006
Jassmine Shadiqe JOHOR BARU: He must have gone through hell before he died.
And he was just three.

Lau Jun Wei is believed to have been tied up for hours and sexually abused
until his private parts turned blue and his anus was bleeding.

There were also signs on his buttocks that he had been repeatedly whipped.

The abrasions on his little body were unbelievable: He even had bruises on his
head.

A private doctor took one look at the dead child and the extent of injuries on
Wednesday, and called in the police.

A 29-year-old relative and her 23-year-old boyfriend, who had brought Jun Wei’s
battered body to the clinic about 3.50pm, were detained.

Their explanation to the doctor that the child had become unconscious after a
fall won’t stand up to scrutiny as a post-mortem in a day or two will reveal
the sordid truth.

What is sure is this: Jun Wei died after being methodically abused in the two
rooms that his relative and her boyfriend had rented at a house in Jalan
Kebudayaan, Taman University, here.

It is learnt Jun Wei’s parents are separated and that his father’s whereabouts
are unknown.

Hours after the couple was detained, it emerged from their housemates that
although they appeared normal, there had been signs that something was amiss.

A housemate, a primary school teacher who only wanted to be identified as
Theen, said he sometimes heard thumping noises from the couple’s rooms after
midnight.

"They maintained a quiet profile and there was nothing openly suspicious about
them, except for the thumping noises," said Theen, 26, who lived downstairs.

He said when he saw the couple about 3.30pm on Wednesday, "the boy’s relative
was looking very pale and in a state of panic".

"The boyfriend was waiting outside in a taxi. There was no sign of the boy."

Theen said the boy seldom left his room, having been seen only about three
times in the living room since his relative and her boyfriend moved in three
months ago.

He said another strange thing was that the couple sometimes left Jun Wei alone
in his room when they went out.

"I used to hear him weeping inside his room. People just don’t leave their
three-year-old alone at home."

Another housemate, who wanted to be known only as Tan, 29, said although her
room was next to the couple’s, she seldom saw or heard the child. Jun Wei was
unusually quiet for a boy of his age, she said.

It is learnt that the boyfriend works in a handphone shop at the housing estate
and is related to the house owner.

Skudai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Johari Yahya, who confirmed
the incident, said the case was being investigated as murder.

Mum, boyfriend nabbed over toddler's death
-by Jassmine Shadique -

THREE-YEAR-OLD Lau Jun Wei was pronounced dead when his jobless
mother brought him to a clinic in Johor Baru’s Taman University at 3.50pm on
Wednesday.

The 29-year-old woman claimed that the boy lost consciousness after a fall at
home. The doctor, however, felt something was amiss.

Lau’s body was badly bruised, showed signs that he had been tied up, his
private parts had turned blue, his anus was bleeding while his buttocks had
lesions.

There were also abrasions all over his body, including his head.

The doctor alerted police who arrested the mother and her 23-year-old boyfriend.

The couple were renting two connecting rooms in a double-storey house with two
other teachers.

Lau’s body was sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem.

It is learnt that Lau’s parents are separated and his father’s whereabouts
unknown.

Skudai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Johari Yahya said the case
is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

One of the housemates, a primary school teacher who wanted to be identified as
Theen, 26, said they rarely met.

“At 3.30pm, I saw the boy’s mother looking pale and nervous as I was about to
go out. I didn’t ask her anything but as I was about to leave, I saw her
boyfriend waiting in a taxi outside the house.

“I didn’t see the boy,” he said.

He also said he did not know their names and that he had only seen the boy
three times since they moved in about three months ago.

Doctor: I was shocked by dead boy’s injuries
JOHOR BARU: The condition of three-year-old Lau Jun Wei's lifeless body
shocked the doctor who first attended to him. He had injuries on the
back of his head as well as bruises and branding marks all over his body. There
were also injuries to his genitals and rectum, police said.
UNDER REMAND: A close relative of the boy and her 23-year-old boyfriend
shielding their faces while waiting outside the magistrate’s court in Johor
Baru yesterday.
His eyes had blue-black marks. Old injuries all over his body suggested that he
could have been scalded with hot water some time ago. Marks on his hands
and legs also suggested that he could have been tied up. “I have been a
doctor for 21 years and I have never seen a child in such a condition. I could
not sleep that night thinking of the boy's battered body,” said the doctor who
did not want to be named. She was attending to a patient at her clinic
in Taman University here at 2.45pm on Wednesday when a couple barged into her
consultation room with Jun Wei and screamed that he was no longer breathing.
“My heart sank when I saw the child. I knew the child was dead,” she said.
Suspecting that the child was abused, the doctor alerted the police.
Johor Baru (North) OCPD Asst Comm Johari Yahya said that an unemployed
22-year-old woman who was a close relative of the boy and her 23-year-old
boyfriend have been arrested to assist in
investigations. Jun Wei: Had marks on his hands and legs
ACP Johari said the couple were being investigated for murder. “The
suspects live in a double-storey house in Taman University that belongs to the
woman’s brother-in-law. Her husband ran away two years ago to escape loan
sharks,” he said. He added that the police had also questioned other
tenants sharing the house. “The tenants said they seldom saw or spoke to
the couple although they occasionally heard the boy crying.”
The couple have been remanded until Oc
