Can someone plaes help me to understand a bit of Amanda internals tat I
have never needed to understand before. but it appears that I do now.
In the amandad debug files on the clients are some references to port
usage. I am thinking that these are TCP, or UDP ports. They seem to be in
the range

Can you tell us more? I don't have the SL24, but, if it works for
Solaris, it ought to just work for Amanda (via mt and mtx).

I saw 2.6.2alpha-20090417 was up tonight so I grabbed it, unpacked it as
usual, copied my gh.cf into the tree and ran it, then went to go take care of
some laundry.
When I returned, probably 20 minutes later, I found my machine 99.999% locked
up, as in the bottom of the window task
