today is 0.96 RC1 release.. which means, WAKE UP!!! first, we'll need to review EACH commits since the branching was done.. I flagged some commit messages, and we have a lot of things that went into the trunk and not the 0.96 branch.. each commit should be reviewed to see if it should go in
