[android-beginners] Android 1.5 on ADP radio problems related to locking SIM?

Hello, I have an ancient Tmobile SIM (SIM has a Voicestream label if I want to date myself 8-) in an ADP. I've upgraded from android holiday code to android 1.5 and I have radio firmware of 2_22_19_26I. If I leave SIM card locked, the data service does not come on when system is powered on/off.
