Android Studio is IntelliJ 14 Community Edition + enhancements for Android
development. Note that these enhancements do make it back to the main
IntelliJ product, just later compared to AS. Just google for the zillion
IntelliJ vs. Eclipse posts out there to see the arguments.
That said, as
Yesterday I tried to set up a web project in IntelliJ IDEA 14 CE and
Android Studio. It did not work because all the necessary plugins are
reserved for the commercial version of IntelliJ IDEA. Which is fine with
me. They are running a business after all.
But I guess that may prove your point.

source, which Android Studio is.

Hi All,
I had to take a quick break from working with Android Studio 1.0.2 to find
the right place to praise it. This seem to be that place.
Before taking the plunge from Eclipse, I did a lot of searching to compare
what others were saying about Android Studio.
Most of the chatter out there
The wow factor is that it is a v0.1 IDE and that people install it as if it
was the second coming, expecting it to be a stable product.
WOW.

Well... I've played with it just a little bit, but seems quite stable to
me. Some rendering problems on gnome2 with two monitors, but not big deal :)
