Thanks for that clarification.
I haven't been able to locate where I saw it, but, if I stop looking,
it will probably come up some time - and when it does I'll pass it on
to you... Given what you've said, it was probably written somewhere
'not' within the Android documentation.

I'd be interested in knowing where this in in the documentation. The status
bar is not something you can insert into your view and manage at all -- it
is a completely separate window, on top of your window, that is owned by the
system. The only thing you can do with it is have it hidden by the
