Ananova : Bomb set off at Pinochet family tomb ========================= A bomb has exploded outside the family tomb of Chile's former dictator General Augusto Pinochet. It caused structural damage to the mausoleum and also damaged part of Santiago's main cemetery. The 85-year-old former dictator is very frail and it is believed the attack was intended to destroy his probable final resting place. Shortly after the explosion, a man handed in a letter to the news agency UPI claiming responsibility for the attack. The letter was not signed by any known group, but expressed dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in Chile. The letter said: "This anonymous attack should be considered as an attack on a symbol. This is a blow against powerful and rich people who have made money out of other people's suffering." The letter criticised the government, business leaders and the armed forces. It also called on people to boycott Chile's general elections. The Pinochet family's spokesman General Guillermo Garin told newspaper La Cuarta: "This shows there are still sectors of society for whom hatred is almost a religion. These are small groups who are trying to destory our country's peace and ruin the prospects of political reconciliation."
